Good cam for stock heads/intake

Whats a good cam to run with your stock heads and intake? I know Mob runs the B-cam as well as foxfan.. would the E-cam be a better choice? How about the TFS1 cam or does it really need heads and an intake to back it up? Was thinking about putting one in the GT since i only race it at the track. Thanks

ive got a lunati voodoo cam that would work great with a stock motor

it specks out 207/213 duration and lift is .468/.488 with a 112 lobe seperation

if you want it 110 plus shipping, still in the wrapper in the box

I have the TFS1 cam in my stock headed car. It works great

I agree since you only race it at the track you can see some interesting gains with a cam from someone who plays in the Factory Stock style racing classes. Otherwise you would be fine with a stock cam...

What else is done to the motor? What are your future intentions?

When I asked Buddy Rawls to grind a cam for my stock headed Explorer intaked '92 he recommended the Comp 35-420-8 instead. That's what I'm going with.

Stock, a custom grind would be the best bet, but why yank the cam and swap it and still leave the stock heads and intake. Get some 1.7 rockers on there and call it a day. If you want, grab an adjustable timing set and degree the stocker to bring the RPM range up or down!

Interesting choice, I do like the specs but usually see a stock style set-up benefit from a small split duration, that cam is straight across. Let me know how that works if you could

I vote for saving yourself some time, headaches, and money and stick with the stock cam and some 1.7s. The cam is something that has to be matched to the heads and intake (primarily). I guess if you don't want to upgrade your heads or intake later down the road, then you could get a specific grind like the one stated above.

I also vote for the stock cam, a cam swap is a decent amount of work for the gain you'd get with the stock heads and intake. Think about it, when you go do a cam your looking at possibly replacing your cracked fan if you still have the stock clutch fan, you might as well do a new water pump while your at it, new gaskets, coolant, oil change, degreeing it if you chose, and setting your vavles. Lets say you gain 10 horses at the most across the board.... Is that worth it? If it is, get a custom. Then in a year when you get heads and intake etc. You'll be ticked you went through all that. jus my 2 cents

well its just a bolt on car.. im working on getting a GT40 intake and a set of P heads.. i'll just buy pedestal 1.7 RR's and leave it at that.. thanks folks!

Buddy's recommendation is based on a stock headed/intake car with a free-flowing aftermarket exhaust. The thinking goes, that since you've removed the exhaust restriction, you don't need the additional help of a split-duration cam on the exhaust side anymore.

Will do but it probably won't be until this time next year. I have some "investment" real estate that hasn't gained a dime in 4 years that I'm trying to get rid of. When that goes the cam and intake go in.
