Found a used TR3650. Said to come out of a '03 GT with 27k miles on it. They say "Shifts freely with no known problems. Unit removed for 6-speed upgrade."

It's on ebay and the bid is at $399 ($599 buy now) plus $150 to ship it from NJ. He has sold 3 3650's in the past 3 months, all with positive feedback. That sound like a good deal to you?

for 1200 you can get a near bullitt proof 3650... I wouldn't risk getting one for 600 bucks only to find out it had the TSB issue, then have Ford not fix it because the tranny SN doesn't match the VIN.

If you were going to rebuild it yourself, then it's a good deal, but stock for stock swap, I'd pass. That's just my opinion though.

I wasted $400 because the same guy (doggy69) sold me a bad TR-3650. His real name is Paul and lives in Brick NJ. The tr-3650 It would not stay in 2nd. I contacted other people who bough a TR-3650 and most responded that he sold them a bad tranny. He did give me a refund for the transmission, but I was screwed out of labor ($400).

I did not give him any ratings. I would love to give him a bad rating but he would give me a bad rating in return.

I contacted everyone he sold a tr-3650 and this is what they said:

49ersfreak7:

THE TREMEC THAT HE SOLD ME THE FIRST TIME DID THE SAME THING! IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO 2ND GEAR. HE EXCHANGED IT FOR ANOTHER ONE HE HAD THERE AND THAT ONE IS WORKING FINE. I DROVE UP THERE TO GET THE SECOND ONE TO MAKE SURE THE TAILSHAFT WOULD NOT SPIN THROUGH EACH GEAR WHILE YOU SPIN THE INPUT SHAFT. THATS A FAIRLY EASY WAY TO ENSURE THAT THE SYNCHROS ARE NOT DAMAGED.

hotrodder971:

hi mine whines and sounds like theres gears bouncing around when i stop and it vibrates he said he would replace mine to.

I got a rebuilt one from ebay member smartpartsauto for $995 +S/H. He sells from: http://www.smartpartsauto.com/manual_transmission_tr3650_mustang.html

You can also try:

Or swap out the TR-3650 for a T-56.

Yep, good thing I asked. I almost impulse bought it.

It looks like Smart Parts Auto is the best deal because even if I get this one rebuilt, it would cost the same and I don't get the same 6-month warranty and "upgraded" parts (i.e: TSB fix) they offer.
