IMO, that price sounds reasonable, about the Airaid CAI, Make sure it has the Venturi tube installed, if it doesn't than the car has been re-tuned and you will need the tuner because it will have the stock tune in it. Also if it has been re-tuned you will need to know what octane tune is in it, for all I know you may only be able to buy an Airaid CAI with the Venturi Tube, however I would assume there is an option to buy an Airaid that has a larger MAF housing requiring a tune. Just best to know for sure whats in there.
Just do your regular checklist looking over the car, look for leaks under the car, pull the dipstick, look/smell the oil, pull the transmission stick look/smell the the fluid, look for any signs of abuse, if you can take the car to your or a local mechanic and have him do an inspection, if not, just be thorough in your inspection. TEST Drive the car, get it to operating temp, get on it some, make sure the clutch feels good while shifting (No grinding etc.....)
One little way to check how the last owner drove the car is to look under the rear fenderwell, look for signs of rubber, I'm sure he probably did a few burnouts, so a little rubber is fine, but if you see tons of rubber stuck to the underside could mean burnout paradise, not always a bad sign, just good to know how the car might have been driven.
Heres a picture of what the "Modular Venturi Tube" looks like.......I did not know anything about a Venturi tube till I read this post and I researched a little because I assumed with the Airaid CAI the car would have been re-tuned and I learned if it has the Venturi Tube in it, it doesn't need a retune.
So heres the pic, I assume the Venturi Tube is whats highlighted, looks like you may have to pull the filter off and have a look inside (how you're gonna tell if it's the Venturi Tube is beyond me)
If I were to guess the Venturi Tube is basically the MAF housing, and being it does not need a re-tune, the housing is basically the same size as stock, which really means no gains. This is just my guess.
EDIT:Ok I did a bit more research on this Venturi Tube, its either there or its not, if you pull the filter and look inside the housing and see that tube thats highlighted in the pic, its there, if you see nothing but a large opening its been removed and re-tuned.
