I bought a used 1.7L KB for my '03GT and want to get a mail order tune to drive it to the dyno, about 30 mintues away. Anybody have any good experience with a mail order tune for a Predator, because I already have a predator. I know MPH and Brenspeed and some others but they have Xcal.
Or do you think I would be OK to back off the timing, add some fuel and just watch the Wideband while I drive it nice and easy to the tuner?

I got mine from here
http://www.diablosporttuning.com/forums/

I've never been to their shop or Dyno. They sent me a tune from another customer who had their car dynoed with all the same mods and from the same year. I don't have a SC on mine, but they do keep all customer tunes on file. You may have to pay a membership fee.

Their home page with contact info is here

What will your local dyno be using to tune it? I'd call them for some advice as well.

Another option, if a mail order tune is gonna cost a chunk of change, might be cheaper or just as cheap to flatbed it to your dyno.....then you know you are not doing any damage.

You are probably an hour away from me if you do live in FL...where are you taking this?

Race Related is super close as is Coastal Dyno but Coastal is a little further.

Aren't you on TampaRacing too?

Yeah I'm on Tampa racing occasionaly. I plan on taking it to Sam at Coastal. I've tried Race Related but had some issues there. I was thinking of giving James another shot because they are so close.
I guess the plan right now is just to baby it up to Tampa and drop it off for Sam.

Odds are it'll be fine driving it if you're careful.

But gotta be honest....and maybe I'm a pansy....but I wouldn't risk my motor because you never know what's going to happen and I'd be kicking my own ass if I screwed something up by driving it like that. One wrong detonation and BLAMO!

An issue at Race Related? I am so (NOT) surprised...
Stick with your plans bro and go to Sam.
I also seriously consider having it towed. Cheap insurance...even if it is a 30 min haul...does Coastal possibly have someone they typically work with for tows? Or what do they recommend?
Everyone's gettin KB's cept for me....dammit.

I went to race related on my lunch break and got a tune in my predator for the injectors, maf and so on. That should help for driving it to the dyno and I will also be putting it in valet mode. Thanks blkhorse. I forgot about that one.
Dyno tune on tues. I can't wait.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I'm not familiar with Coastal, but I have had no problems at racerelated, in fact, those guys had a real opportunity to screw me over (thanks to KB) and didn't. I'm sorry that you feel that way.
In any case, I live in St. Pete and own a car hauler, check PM.
