I just bought my 02 gt with a paxton. It has 7k original miles on it. I know if i do much as far as moding it, i will approach 400 hp. i have been told this is getting towards the risky end of the stock 4.6L what do i need to do to be safe, while considering that i dont have unlimited income? Mahle crank/piston/rod kit? Just rod and pistons? What do you all think? Thanks alot!

honestly, yes you will...and shortblocks aren't cheap...

cobra crank, forged rods & pistons should be all you need...several brands are out there. my friend has had good luck with his probe pistons, though i prefer JE...

ok. because theres a brand new one on ebay for 1400 so thats not too bad
and i have people that will do the build for next to nothing...i love relatives. no other weak parts of the engine that need to be adressed?

If you have a good tune, and you don't go in go WOT in 5th at 30mph, you should be fine where you're at. 400rwhp with a good tune is fine. 450 with a superb tune is probably fine too.

Bad tunes = grenaded engine.
