canton, oh
last night was 'no track prep tuesday'.
with no boost controller, 15psi (which i only see at the end of high gear- 12psi most of the run) i ran a [email protected] 1.63, [email protected] 1.67, 10.28@137 1.61.
last pass i hooked the controller back up which give me 19psi thru most of the run. since the boost came in so quick, i blew the tires off. 10.23@143.7!! 1.74.
all shifts were @ 6,000, going thru the traps @ 6,000. it was running really lean for some reason last night, and i melted a plug on the last pass. the car seemed to be running good, though.

on a side note: i had to make the 60 mile trip home in the rain with hoosier 'don't drive these on the road or you'll die' drag radials.

Congrats on the new mph Paul!! Get that thing off the line and run 9's all day long. I know you realize it but you've got LOTS left in that 60 foot.

Oh, and that is a decent mph. lol

how did you manage the drive on those slicks (sorry DR)? I thought you couldn't even move in the wet with those. "Nature's burnout box" HA. It takes balls to click off solid 10s and drive it 60 miles to/from the track. You didn't bring spare tires?

they do have 2 grooves. lol. they are brand new, so that helped, but i went 40mph and had to pull over and stop ALOT. wet roads didn't give me a problem, but running water did. it was a lonnng ride home.
i've driven 2hrs to race before. it's a street car, so i race it at the track in the same trim i drive it around on.

i upgraded the 65 amp 14 years ago (i don't even remember to what).
the alt was only charging 12.9 under load (hi-beams & fan).
made a pass missing badly at 11.00. connected a portable battery jumper to the batt while i made the next pass- 10.57 breaking up less. charged the batt and the jumper- 10.25 breaking up in high gear only. replaced the alt with a gm 94a 3-wire. charges under load at 14.2 and the miss is completely gone.

I cheat a little, my track tires ride in the back seat. 45 miles to the nearest 1/8 mile and 110 miles to the 1/4 mile track. I don't worry too much yet, but when I get a turbo on I will worry a little about my home built trans and rearend.

Does the track give you a hard time about that mph? I wish we had E85 around here. I may mix my own. One of the tracks around here sells ethanol for $110 a drum so it would be cheaper than 87 octane.
