What's the stock transmission for a 87 5.0?

Also, I've heard they have ~300 torque, is this correct?

The engine was rated at 300 ft-lbs though

91-up T5 trannys are rated at 300lbs-ft of Tq. Because they changed the cluster shaft and 2nd and 3rd gear.

Below 91 they were rated at 270lbs-ft of Tq. But the engines had 300lbs-ft of Tq stock like Tmoss noted and 225 HP.

"All 83 1/2 - 93 GT's and 84 - 93 5.0 LX's came w/the 5 liter backed by a 5 speed T-5 as standard equipment. AOD was extra cost. Both configurations were advertised to produce 225 hp@4200 r's and 300 lbs @ 3200, however, the AOD version actually produced 220 hp at 4200 due to more restrictive mufflers used to meet the EPA's noise requirements."
