got a phone call this morning

got a laugh outta this. i get woke up to my phone ringing. its the dealership i bought my 03 gt from. i took her up there to get the tranny looked at. typical 3650 tranny the snycros are going out in it. ive got a warrente. i dont drive her in the winter so i say what the hell ill take her down for a while. anyway

so phone rings i pick up its patrick my tech.

hey buddy the warrente co. called and we need to know what u would like us to do?

im thinkin im gettin screwed

ok whats up?

patrick- well its going to be 1350 to get the syncros replaced
me- ok?
patrick- the war. co said they dont want to pay for that, so what they want to do is buy you a new tranny have have it sent to us.
me- ok (wonder how much this will cost me)
patrick- i need to know what u want me to do? if i repair yours u need to pay about 300 bucks outta pocket of they will send the new one to us we will install it and u will be good to go?
me- ............silence....... ummmm so whats the problem?
patrick- just want to know what u want me to do?
me- *thinking....hmmm new tranny for free, or new syncros in a 65k mile tranny.... well i think ill go with the new one

That's bullsh@t! I just bought a rebuilt one off deadhorse last week!!! I wish I could get a free one!

lol whats up tim. yeah i was like umm sure i guess if u want to give me one for free ill take it. i was expecting to get hosed on this deal. the first call i got was that the war. co didnt want to pay for any of it even though there was a tsb about it. hell they have had the car for 2 weeks now im starting to miss her

yeah i cant wait to get her back ive been drivin my big beast truck for a couple weeks ready to get back in my car.

um....i'm not trying to be a bubble burster here, but are you sure you are getting a brand new tranny and not just a "new" trans for your car. i am a mechanic and deal with those stupid warrenty companies all the time and they never wanna pay to fix the problem let alone give someone a brand new trans. i'm not saying it isn't one. i just have never seen them do that before.

+1 when they authorize a new trans what that usually means is they get a junkyard ones shipped to us.

Same thing happened to me in a T5 tranny I had serviced at my local Ford dealer, the car had 89k miles on it, and needed all new synchros, but I had just bought it and it was covered under the dealerships 3mo/3000mile 100% warranty. They asked me what I wanted to do and I said put a new tranny in it. I looked at the tranny and talked to a couple different techs at the dealership and sure enough it was a BRAND NEW tranny. I was pleased...until they didn't tell me my clutch was almost shot and 3 months later had to replace the clutch, but that's another story.

Well these guys have been great to me so far and I'm just going off what they r saying. So I'm going to hope what they r sayin is right
