Got a set of slicks do I need subframes????

I picked up a set of 26x10.5 et streets at the NMRA Joilet race, and I was wondering how bad I need a set of subframes. I really think I do, from what all I have ever heard you need them when using slicks. My dad says that I dont need them and the slicks wont even hook that well. I think he is wrong, and anway if I dont need them it would be a good start in the right direction.

If I do get a set of subframes is it ok to weld them on with the car on jackstands. With the rear two stands on the axle and the front two on the A arms or some suspension part as such. Will it have the unibody twisted too much? Because if this is so I can get someone to weld it for me pretty cheap.

Also do you think it would hurt my car to run at the strip this friday without subframes. My car is pretty much stock. All of my mods are in my sig except for D&D LCA and UCA's and 3.73 gears. I really want to see what I can do with these slicks now. It is only a fun night and they rarely put down traction compound so I dont think I will be launching real high, but you never really know.

If somebody can help me out I would really appreciate it. This has been a huge weight over my head that I was really unsure about.

I think youll be fine for one night. I ran last wed. on et drags with no rear sway or subframes, the car launched straight but the left tire was about 12"s high and the left was maybe 2"s. Im putting on a rear sway and subframes before i go again hopefully it launch level and still pull them.

Jack stands work fine, as long as the car is being supported by the suspension (IE same as you said, rear stands under the axle and front stands under the control arms).

You don't NEED subframes, but it would be a good investment, especially if your oging to be hooking up at the track, that would twist the car pretty fast!
