Who will win??? All I know about his car is its a stock 96 GT with a Vortech on there. I have no clue of how much boost he is running so I cant tell you that. Heard he only ran a 14 at the track, but that seems a little slow. Think I'll win? Both cars are 5spds and I consider myself a decent driver. He said he'd win because of "shifting experience" :rlaugh:

Honestly, I think you'll take him if your confident enough in your driving that you wont spin off the line.

I saw a 96 gt with a vortech, 3.73, 275 nittos, and i dont know what else run mid to high 13's all night at the track. Maybe driver? But I didn't think it was that impressive.

Thats what I'm worried about. My nittos need to be heated up good to stick, and they are almost bald :( I'll see if I can get him this weekend and try to get someone with a camera to go along

in a past MM&FF mag , they had a stock 97 gt with a vortech which was only making like 250-260rwhp......not sure how much boost but i do know that the pre-99gt's have $hitty heads that bootlenecks the performance really bad!! i say you'll smoke him!!!! :nice:

I read in a recent 5.0 mag that they are starting to find out that those heads aren't that bad that it's the intakes that suck. Some company just made adapter plate that retro fit the 99 pi intake to the 96-98 and have seen gains of 30 something horses and torque.

the 96's are damn slow, from the couple ive seen in person.
Even with a blower, ide guess he would be under 270 horses. If your running for money, or are really serious about it, just have him pop the hood and check out what hes running. Usually the pulley will be around 3" i its stock.. smaller pulley means hes running high boost. Check for headers, t/b, and thats about it..

By the way, Nittos work best when bald or almost bald, so you have no excuse, go run him, and dont forget to record it, so i can see.

wow 14s with a blower that sucks I am quite disappointed in that...I was thinking about throwing my money on a blower but I guess maybe a good h/c/i combo would be better...tell us how it turns out cuase will affect my decision

Thats w/ the 96 4.6, you will see much better gains w/ a 5.0 and minor bolt ons such as Intake, MAF and Exhaust. Prob closer to 330-360 RWPH w/ mid to low 12's.

The 96-98's are horrible when it comes to breathing through the heads and Intake.

I think you got him. 1105 i have been gone for awhile but last time i talked to you, you where putting your turbos on. What happened?
They will be going in once I get out of school which is May 13th  I have all the parts to start the actual fabrication for the project, but still need injectors, maf, and some gauges. I'll see if the kid wants to race this weekend and I'll throw down some money and see if he backs out :D

Isn't that when they hook the best?
I think you will take him. :nice:
NO NO NO NO, Nittos are terrible when they are bald. I used to think that too, until i had bald nittos. ON the plus side i saw a 97 GT a few months ago with a vortech, 3.73s, and a catback. He was on slicks and was going 13.5 103. That was with pretty decent 60fts.
