Got my 3.55s in today, wondering about my off 200MPH speedo will work.

I got my car back today with 3.55s in it. My speedo gear is on yet another backorder (seems to happen a lot, 5 lug conversion is on backorder from Jegs) and my speedo now reads about 20MPH fast.

But, here's what I'm wondering.

I bought a 200MPH speedo about a year ago, and the thing read fast, about 20 MPH. Now I'm wondering, if I put the 200MPH speedo in, will that read 40MPH faster, or will it be accurate? I don't have the time to tear my dash apart now to put the speedo in and try it. What do you guys think?

With a gear swap your speedo should be off on a progressive rate. Meaning it should be off a mile or two down low and the difference should get larger the faster you go. By putting in your 200 mph speedo you are just going to throw it off more. You are going to need to get your gear, whenever it comes in and then get your 200mph speedo recalibrated so it is right.

Damn, that's what I thought. Maybe I'll send the speedo out sometime this year, but then that's what I said last year. lol

how much did the gears and labor cost on the gear swap ?

I got raped on the labor I think. I bought the gears and trac-lok from Jegs and took them and the car to a good shop around here. For them to install, setup, buy the rest of the parts, it totaled $883. So overall I spent over $1k...ouch.
