Got my car Tuned & Dyno'ed, a few ???'s

I had my car dyno'ed last month with these mods:

1994 Stock Block 5.0
1989 Mustang Forged Pistons - Notched for 185's
1.6 Roller Rockers
TFS Stage 1 Cam
Explorer Intake
C&L 76MM MAF & Pipe
Pro Products 70MM Throttle Body
MSD 6AL
24LB. Injectors
Longtube headers & off-road H

On a MustangDyno, the car made 285RWHP@5500RPM & 325RWTQ@4275RPM with a "safe" tune by a well known, reputable Tuner.

I was told by many people that my unported Exploder intake may have cost me a few top end RWHP, and I found a great deal on a TFS Street Heat, so I went ahead and put it in. I also added a Meziere Electric Water Pump for good measure.

Today the Car dyno'ed 274RWHP@5180RPM & 322RWTQ@4200RPM. The tune made the car alot smoother, and it was definitely worth the re-tune after the Mods. but the #'s are lower than before.

My question for all the experts is this. The guys at the shop where I got the car tuned said that since my first Tune, they had changed the program & calibration on the Mustang dyno, and the numbers were lower today by about 5%, maybe a little more. Does this mean that my combo is actually making a little more than what the latest numbers indicate? Is there a chance that a little something was left on the table, or should I just take the car to a different shop with a DynoJet to get "bragging" numbers.

Like I said before, I am happy with the results, and will take it to the track tomorrow, to see what it does. I just want to make sure there isn't something I can change to get over the 300 mark. A custom cam will do it, but any suggestions would be helpful.

I would think the dyno should be more accurate after calibration. So I would reduce your pre-numbers by 5% and compare that number to what you have now.

From looking at a bunch of dyno pulls ...........

I would say those done on Mustang Dynos seem to produce
lower results than Dynojet dynos.

You then have to consider if the Dynojet results were
of the STD or SAE flavor.

I have used the SAE method as my standard of comparing various
combos but I'm not totally certain I have chosen the most fair of
the two choices

If you do some looking in old posts .........
I'm pretty sure some have posted up a generic rule of thumb ............
About the % of difference between Mustang and Dynojet
but
I don't remember it at this time
and
My notes had no info either

Please Tell us what you find if you do

so what exactly is the diff. between a mustang dyno and a reg.?? i know mustang ones give you lower #'s but why??

The car is a T-5, with 138K on the basically stock shortblock (pistons were changed in favor of forged.)

I will be taking the car to a DynoJet tomorrow morning. Almost Identical Ambient Air Temps & Humidity as yesterday.

I guess we'll see just how much a difference there is.

Ask the guy what your best pull is in

BOTH

STD & SAE

Also if he seems to know what he is doing
and
he seems to be a cool kinda guy

Pick his brain about his take on different types of dynos

After all ... You're payin him ... Get your moneys worth
