Here is a video of a similar set up! http://www.killsometime.com/Video/video.asp?video=Light-Fart

Just tryin to help some brothers

that's one of the funniest things i've ever seen...

anyways, i seriously doubt that jessie james put propane in a car, maybe tapped the gas tank and ran a little pump because that would work, so would butane and other liquids with a pump, but propane is plain ignorant! the argument about unburned gas contaminating the oil stream and rings seems logical... it's like you're running SUPER rich and that isn't good for the engine, but with minimal use it shouldn't hurt that much

Am I the only one that seen the Monster Garage episode with the Green mustang they made into a lawn mower? The put a pipe out the side window and made a flame thrower out of it with a propane tank in the car. They said it was the SAFE way to make your car have flames.

Hi Paul,

my fuel mixture was rich at one point in time. I was tuned with an 11:1 overall a/f ratio, with 40psi base fuel pressure w/ the vacuum on. The a/f ratio however was controlled via a chip that I had burned, but, I am positive that I changed this a/f ratio by adding 3 more psi of boost.
The car mainly blew flames when I ran a higher octane at the track. I ran a mix of 115 a few years ago, and found out the hard way that this slowed me down, and burned up my O2 sensors. Again, this was a few years ago when I was new to the game.
At time it would still blow flames if I hit the MSD limiter as it was cutting the spark, but keeping the fuel going...just dumping fuel basically.

Dan

Got ya.... I need boost. My car is slow. :(

sorry i don't have cable... but anyways, it sounds like it was a joke and not for real - is it possible that he was using liquid propane (if there is a such thing, and if it is stable)?

If you didn't see it, why would you think it sounds like a joke?

The propane gig has been around for ages.... it's not a new thing.

I saw the Monster Garage episode with the Green Mustang that was transfered into a fast lawn mower. Cool episode.

And yes.......J. James did use propane in the exhaust. All the folks involved thought it was about the safest way to produce flames out of the exhaust. Wish I new more specifics on this part of it.

I thought almost everyone watched that show! :) I can't believe how many people I know and meet who watch Monster Garage, American Chopper, American Hot Rod, etc. Now that's what I call "reality" TV (well, maybe not total reality).

WHERE IS THE VIDEO??????? NEED FLAMES!!!!!!!!!

and thats on a Mustang Dyno....imagine what it would be like on a Dynojet!
Anthony

You do of course understand that Nitrous by itself isnt flamable... but, propane is.??
That picture with the both of them mounted there??.. dude.. thats a bomb waiting to expload. If that car was ever rear ended (hard enough anyway) and those tanks ruptured.. it wouldnt take a whole lotta heat to blow the hell outa that thing.

Thats why I say its a bad idea. Im not talking about power. im talking about saftey.

Thats almost like, pulling the pin from a grenade,.. and putting it between your arse cheeks, hoping that the lever doesnt slip off.

Sorry, thats a risk im not willing to take.

I like my ass right where it is.
