Got my new seats in- '04 Cobra's

im back from my buddys shop after a long day of work, and theyre in..... heres some pics of the finished product. ill post a more details nad pics in a write-up of what we did later today

theyre tan. seller said they came out of an '04... same as an '03 tho, so doesnt really matter

what do you mean? the 03/04 Cobras had a few different suede insert colors. there was the light grey, dark grey, tan, and red (10th anniv). as far as i know, the red is the only one thats year specific. anyways... im posting the write-up in a minute

I drove up to my buddy Vanns shop in the morning, took 2 hours and i was there at like 1130am. I got there and unpacked the car, along with removing what was left of the interior, and pulled the carpet up to find this sexy shade of teal.

Because I wanted to use the stock '04 seat tracks on my car, it was going to take a lot of work. We started to cut out the seat pans, which had some pretty crappy welds on them. Vann did the passenger with a torch, and i used a cutting disc on the drivers. We cut them out, grinded down the edges, plugged the wholes, and Vann painted the metal to prevent rust and make it look somewhat nice.







We then started playing around with how we were gonna mount the seats. To get the seats to sit right, the fronts need to be shimmed, and the front outside even more. First we drilled the holes in the floor to bolt the seats to.



What we decided to do was weld a peice of rectangular steel tubing, horizontally for the front bolts. Then we used a couple shims on the outside bolts on top of the steel to make it level. The rear would just be bolted to the floor. So Vann broke out the welder and welded the steel in, after we drilled the holes through it. Hopefully it also added some of the structural support back to the floor that the original pans provided. It was then painted to match. We finished at like 11pm, and went out cruising. Left for home the next morning as i didnt want to drive in the middle of the night.




As for wiring up the power seat track, Vanns buddy Nick figured out the wiring on it and tapped into a 12V source somewhere. We layed the carpet back down, then bolted the seats into place with the correct amount of shims, and got it alll to fit right. It sits pretty good, but a little higher than before. Definately different, but its not a bad thing, sorta nice. Since I have the smaller Grant 13" steering wheel on there, there isnt a problem with the leg clearance, and the shifter reach isnt horrible, but definately not where i want it. Shifter relocator is next on the list.

not a big fan of rear seat deletes...plus, if the passenger puts the seat all the way up, theres enough room for a passenger on that side and still room for the front. it looks worse than it is

its not acting as a subframe connector. but its better than nothing. we used it to replace some of the work the original seat pans did. ive driven it 150 miles, and its fine, doesnt feel any different.i would of liked to put more steel in there, but we couldnt get anything else to work because of all the bends and beads in the floor, which is suprisingly strong without the seat pan.

think i should go with black cutpile carpet? and paint the panels the lighter tan?
