Got my Predator Yesterday!!!

I installed the new tune while at work. I couldn't wait to get home. There was a noticable SOTP difference. Now I can finnally install my 3:73s (no performance tuner within 60 miles). I left a review at SN Reviews... click here for link. Eventually I'll send an E-mail to James for a custom tune. My only problem now is that I can't get it out and test run it hard because of the rain (fast car + rain = )

I just installed mine too. It is VERY easy to use, and it lets you "tune" the car a lot more than you could. The car seems to rev a lot smoother and the RPM's don't hang like they did when I rev it. I also turned the rear O2's off so the check eng. light won't come back on because of the off road pipe. As far as power....I'm going to test that when I leave work today. Didn't have a lot of time to play with it yesterday and the streets were wet. If your looking into getting it I would say go for it.

For me it was worth the price, real easy to use, just plug into your ECU port (after reading the user manual) and follow the instructions on the screen. I wrote up a short review in the review section ( see 1st post for link).

Tuner:
$400 average
E-mail capabilities for custom tunes (free if tuner bought from RWTD)
can be used as a diagnostics tool
Can be "flashed" back to stock at any time for warranty work purposes.

Chip:
$200 average
$100 per custom tune/ re-burn average
Must pull and send chip for re-tune
no diagnostics capabilities
Also if the dealer sees that chip hanging off your ECU they will more than likely void your warranty.

I'm not a rep for Diablo products. What you see below is taken from the users manual. I have not made any adjustments to either one of these perameters until I can get it on a dyno and have it done by someone that knows more about these 2 adjustments.


From the instruction manual... It's my understanding..... that The fuel base can be adjusted, but only applies for wide open throttle only, and should only be done with proper monitoring devices such as an air/fuel meter. Fuel can be made up to 15% leaner or up to 40% richer in 2 separate ranges, one from 2000-4000 RPM and the other at 4000-redline.

Timing (spark advance) can be done at 2 ranges. One at 2000-4000 RPM and the other at 4000-redline. Once again the adjustments are for WOT only. allowances are for up to 10% advance and 40% retard.

yep time is +10 % and -40% of the tune...but you dont know what is the tune.
and you can adjust A/F too.

for me i still have some checking to do, at first i put -10% on timing to be on the safe side, but finally i put back the real tune and i think i running better. But the rain prevented me from realy testing it.

I paid $285 for mine from RPM Outlet(but I didn't get a T-Stat). For that price I think it is really a bargain. I installed the tune but I can't really tell if there is a difference. Need to get to dyno to check A/F ratio. Basically if you have offroad midpipe and gears you could be saving over $100 in parts like speedcal and MIL eliminators. Plus you get the advantage of datalogging.

RWTD (Running With The Devil) is based in Mobile, Alabama. Right now they are stating that if you buy a predator from them they will include custom tunes by request at no charge. They also state that this is subject to change. If you buy elsewhere, RWTD will charge a one time new customer fee of $100, and you will recieve the same services. So check into their website, form your own opinion and become an informed consumer, before you buy.

Is there a way to tune a Nitrous Car w/ the predator? Will you be able to see the A/F mixture?
Also have you heard about SCT, i think is from superchips is very popular on Modular Depot

Thats the price the guy said he pays for it. Maybe I should jump on that!

I don't know about the Nitrous. I have heard of SCT, but I was sold on the Predator because of price and the ability to recieve custom tunes Via the internet. IF your still curious, A good website is Diablosport Tuning . It's their Forums page. Go to pre-sale support and they should be able to answer your question about the Nitrous.
