Just called a couple ford dealerships in my area, one quoted $480 for 4.8 hours work and the other was $500 for 5 hours work.

Sounds about right for a dealer quote. I got quotes from very reputable mustang shops in my area for slightly less for labor only...think they were around 350-400.

If I had any shops in my area like that i'd go to them, but my options are limited.

Look around. Why would you go to a dealer? You should know by now they won't lube you before you rape you

If you can find another trusted mechanic....if not I'd rather get ass-raped once by the rates than ass-raped every time I get in my mustang and realize they fugged it up.

I paid $165 for my install carrying the rear end out of the vehicle down to them. Only reason I did that was I was replacing all the control arms in the rear and springs and was waiting on parts to show up.

I was quoted by another shop of $200-225 installed in the vehicle.

Just dropped it off at the stealership.. I'll let you all know how it goes and what the final price is when I get it back later.

Just for reference, I already had the gears and a master bearing kit, so the price will just be for installation, lube, etc.

Just curious, why are you going 4.30's? This isn't a DD is it?

no, 4.30's are a good choice. and you're getting majorly screwed on the price. I thought the price you said was including the gears...

I paid 200 for the install on mine!!

no thats fine. I'm relatively new to the whole mustang mod world. I was just curious.

Quick question: What was the justification for going with the 4.30's? Is it that since it's a 4V cobra, it has sufficient power to get the gear going? Would that be why I initially thought 4:30's would have been overkill for a 2V GT?

I have 4.30's in my GT and i dont think they're overkill

4.30's ina n/a 4v are prefect because they rev higher than our cars do, and is the recommended gear because of this.

Finally got my car back, final price was 476.60.

Car runs perfect, no noises or anything. Feels stronger too but I haven't really got on it yet.

Heat cycle them a few times before getting on it.

BTW, your avatar disturbs me. I like it. Where is it from?
