Got the Cobra Intake on..... drove it, having problems.

Well, I finally got my intake today from Blue Oval Motorsports at about 6:00pm. So, I start switching the components from the Trick Flow to the Cobra and I tell you what, this intake has some ****ing casting problems. All the holes are burred and need to be tapped out, it came with no instructions, no lower intake gaskets, no EGR gasket which in the ad it said "all hardware included" and had a picture that showed all the gaskets and everything.

Anyways, I switch over the fuel rail and run in the bolts, well they bottom out.... I thought that it was just the ****ty threads on the intake, but I end up breaking the bolt off in the manifold. I snapped it at the front driver side. Well, I figured that the bolts are only there to keep the fuel rail from pushing up, but I tighten three of them down as far as they will go (probably a full turn from going in all the way) and continue.

I fire it up and it sounds great, idles good, revs good, no leaks.. temp looks good. So I take it for a spin and punch the gas, it takes off and I smell fuel bad. I pop the hood and there is fuel by the front four injectors. So bad it is dripping on the ground and leaving a trail as I drive. I quickly bring it back and park it.

I guess all I want to know here is how in the hell I get this snapped off bolt out of the hole? Anybody have any secrets or easy ways to get this out? I really don't want to take the lower manifold off and get it pulled out proffessionally because I need this car for work and I am screwed right now. Please... somebody help.
 
Try an easy out or a reverse drill bit to screw it out. I snapped a fitting in my fuel rail once and it sucked.

Maybe this is all a sign you shoulda kept your TFS manifold :p

That manifold you have is a reproduction one it sounds like, made in china. Copy cat made over sea's brands seem to have lots of quality issues.
 
I myself have not seen any price difference I see the China unit being sold for $399 just like the Made in USA. The screws are soft just use a small drill bit and drill it out and use a self taping machine screw in its place.
 
I would have kept the TFS, but yeah you have to get all of those bolts that hold the rails nice and tight or they will move too much and leak.
 
You can probably drill the bolt while the intake is still in the car without any problem. Use an easy out and it should come out without too much of a hitch. Be carefull with the easy out... they are very hard metal and brittle. If you break the easy out in the hole you drilled you might have to take it to a shop to fix. Kevin
 
Yeah, installed my china cobra intake a couple of weeks ago...had to drill out a couple of the bolt holes in the upper manifold to get the damn bolts in. Oh well, got mine for $350 shipped, all gaskets and hardware, so I can't complain too much. I just took off the upper and lower to fix an oil leak. Gotta drive an hour to get gaskets though - Oriellys, Advance, and Autozone all lacking them in town.

Oh, and as for your gas issue - also get new O-rings and pindle caps..."injector rebuild kit" made by borg warner - only O'Reilly's had it here. Was less than $15 for all of the kits for each injector. Should fix any gas leak issues at the injectors themselves. Also, to get the pindle caps on, boil them in water for 5-10 min. They will snap right on, no breaking. I am guessing the o-rings are at fault with the leak, as the rail shouldn't be that "loose" in terms of letting the injectors slip out, even without that bolt holding the rails down.
