as you know last weekend i got my SC installed. ran decent, my smog pump locked up on me and timing was off. i couldnt see teh balancer well with all the belts in place so it was difficult. i also mis routed the vent line thats supposed to go from the VC to the air box. i had it going from the TB to the airbox ( silly me) and it was bleeding off boost and woulnt really make boost until 4k

got it all lined out, got the ASP smog eliminator, rerouted the vent line, got a new acc. belt. got it timed correctly. i timed it with the belt , fan and shroud off. so i could see it.

got it running and went out to the back roads.

floored it in first. pulled hard and once it hit 3k it BURIED the tach INSTANTLY while roasting the tires. shifted hard to second and BURIED the tach again, held into and it finally caught traction at 5k in 2nd, i had to shift as soon as it hooked up.

3rd continued to pull hard and so did 4th

and this is all on a hot summer day with a load of suspension mods done. which helped traction quite a bit from before.

and this tire spin isnt the just small squealing and going, its actually burning rubber, i got on it this morning and roasted them through 1st and 2nd and i saw a smoke cloud behind me. my tires arent going to last too long now lol

on top of the increased power in 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear are now usable gears. before the blower my car would do alright in 1st and 2nd then 3rd, wind resistance would start working against the car and it didnt feel like it pulled as hard then. now with the SC 3rd gear feels about like 2nd gear did before. will start making boost and take off, will do that cool suck you back into the seat slowly and hold you there.

4th gear now is easy to max out, before it would take a little bit to get 4th gear to stretch out, now it just goes and passes 100 very fast.
i wont know until i get to the track but it feels like i may have too much gear now, like it will top out 4th before the 1/4, i duno for sure but it goes that much faster now.

some people i have given rides to say the car feels like a "smoother faster"
like before it when i shifted the rpm loss would make the car lose power and then would pull again. now its just pulling all the way through instead of your head going back and forth.

if the car runs good all week and give me no problems i am taking it to the track.

i still need to install my boost gauge i got to see what boost its making on the ported heads and stuff.
it just helped out so much with the 5-6lb kit, swapping some pullies and making 8-10 would be insane.

i have a camera to take vids but i need a cable to hook it up to the computer. once i get that i will post up some vids.

i ordered a cable i needed from a site and they still havent shipped it yet, they are waiting on it from their supplier and its been like 2 week and i am starting to get mad at them now.

but my friend has a bone stock engine. with an A-trim vortech making 5 lbs. he has a t5 and gears in the rear and it runs real good, ran 12.8 @107. but my car BLOWS his out of the water now, just feels alot faster than his. i guess the thumper heads and bigger intake and all the mods i have done really help out.

i'm still thinking about getting a blower cam to toss in and make more power. but as it sits i know its going to run low 12s with ease. lol its funny beecause just a few months ago i was thinking, man if i could runs 12s i would be happy.

and now i blew that out of the water and i'll be hunting for the 11s before too long. i think a good blower cam and a bigger crank pulley to run a little more boost with a slick it should hit 11s

Man don't ever say things like that....it's not healthy to lie to yourself

Everyone in the 13s and 14s wishes all they could do is just run 12s....then the 12 second guys wish all they could do is run 10s. It's a downward spiral.

Man, the thing isn't even tuned yet, you have no idea what you've got coming to ya. How much boost will that blower put out? Get a smaller pulley, an F cam and dyno tune that bitch. Then hold the **** on. My buddy's h/c/i 302 with an s-trim picked up about 200rwhp from a dyno tune without adding boost. Spend the money on a tune, it's worth every penny.

still running the b-cam

i got my boost gauge hooked up this afternoon and it peaks at 5 psi like they kit is supposed to.

i am going to see how she runs this week, so far so good. get to the track and get a baseline and start the tinkering, i was thinking of adding a power pipe of some sort, they say they increase power and add a lb of boost

also considered getting an OTS blower/ FI cam i dont wana do custom now because in the future i want to build a BAD engine and i'll do the custom stuff then, its a mild motor and i dont need a custom cam now, i'm sure it might gain a few horse over an OTS but for a street driven car i'll get the cheaper stuff now and do the hardcore stuff later.

and maybe throw a crank pulley on it and make some more boost. maybe 8-10
and i need to get a tune somewhere down the line. but out of the box its running super.

i had my dad drive me around in it, so i could actually feel the car instead of driving it, it would pull hard and kept pulling hard as long as you kept your foot on the gas.

what are some good OTS blower cams that would work well with my application, mild HCI street car

Good to hear its running strong man! What did you set the timing at? Over the last couple years, if I had a dollar for every time I read of someone blowing their headgaskets with the first week of boost, I would be a rich man!!!

How is the stock block holding up? I have been debating on what I want to do for awhile now- either a 331 short block or wait and save up for a dart block or boss. I would probably run a good h/c/i combo for awhile but I know I would eventually want a blower. I know that most people say a v-1 kit or novi 1000 is pretty pointless on a stroker motor so that is another thing I'm unsure of. Now, im thinking just supercharge my fairly stock gt now and add some bolt ons, but im afraid the motor won't last very long/and or the tranny. It has about 115k miles on the car and is my daily driver. I thought I would just build a decent 331, h/c/i for now, then add a v-1 kit with powerpipe shoot for around 8 psi. Any thoughts?

a stock block would probably handle a H/C/I and 8psi assuming you dont beat on it all the time and get a tune it would run good.

from what i hear the stock blocks can take 450-500 horse pretty safely. anything past that is getting into that "ehh" zone

and i set my timing at 10 degrees, the factory setting.

I should be running about 14psi on my H/C/I 302. I currently have my timing retard taking out PLENTY of timimg. So much that it cuts up at about 5200, by which time I'm already seeing 10-11psi.

10 is the factory setting and its what the vortech manual said to do. i set it there to see how it ran. runs alot better. i had it way off and it was running horrible. its not detonating or anything now. i'm running 91 octane.
