Great! Blown Head Gaskets - Getting Dirty Tonight...

Well yeahhh, car overheated two nights ago @ the tracks - Reason why it overheated was because my electric fan power wire came off somehow and i didnt even noticed it...Car still felt the same as it did with before..Didnt feel power loss -

I bring it home and parked it, o wait on my way home i raced a 350z and beat him by 2-3 cars on the freeway And so i came home and let it parked.. Next morning i popped open the hood to check regular oil and coolant and noticed BROWN water stains on the battery and around the radiator....

So i popped open the cap of the radiator and seen it the top was somewhat milky and there wasnt enough coolant @ all, all of the coolant was in the reserve tank somehow maybe overhwated and checked the OIL DIPSTICK but then oil was fine and perfect condition..

I started up the car and had the radiator cap open and the water started to bubble up fast so i turned it off and made a few calls...

I have about 130K on the motor... Well it shouldnt be hard to replace the gaskets since allmy friends did theirs OVERNIGHT Im gonna get felpro gaskets, arp bolts and performance gaskets for everything i take out..

So after im done i can race alli want knowing i got brand new gaskets bwahahahaha ..

My only question is... As of now im savingup for a 347 block but need the stang running for summer, so u guys think it can be the gaskets that went out? And how long did it take you guysto change it?

personally, I'd put it off until the weekend if you can...spend a couple days on it...not the kinda thing you wanna have to redo. If everything went smoothly AND you have a good idea of what you are doing, you could maybe do it in a night...a long night. Unless you're gonna replace the injector o-rings (maybe a good idea), i'd leave the injectors and rails on the intake. Be sure and label your lines/connections so you know where stuff goes. I think you're supposed to have your heads milled a little to make sure they're flat and not warped...especially since you overheated...I know I had mine milled a little. That right there will prevent it from being a "one night" ordeal. Have fun!

Definitley have the heads planed. get all the pits and pocks out of them. in the long run it could save you a cracked block.

yeah in the process im looking for GT40 heads also no one has them.. And whoever has them wants about 700-900 for them Im gonna order engine rebuilt gasket kit from summit for about $80 has all the gaskets from heads to upper and has arp bolts i think..Not sure...

Im gonna start as soon as i have all the tools and enough gloves ready

Orrrrrr yous think i should run to a wreckyard and try to find a 302 engine under 60K miles...?

take the weekend to do it , just dont rush , can be done in 4 to 8 hours no problem , use felpro 9933PT-1 (289HP and ford racing applications ) instead of the standard 8548PT-2 they hold up alot better . Just got done doing a friends couple weeks ago , hadn't done any in 5 years or more , only took about 5 and half hours total .

i would put new rockers on since you have to go down that far but it wont be hard.

you guys think i should just replace the motor? It has about 139K on it never rebuilded... Or i should just replace the gaskets real quick and shop around for a new motor?
