Does anybody know what the part number is for a grey leather shift knob (OEM on GTs) for 99-04s? The only one I can find is XR3Z7213BA, but dealers tell me that is black, not grey and they don't have any other part numbers for a grey one. As far as I know, all of the 99-04s used only grey for the knobs and boots, right (whether dark charcoal, med parchment, or med graphite)? Anybody have any idea where I can get a grey leather knob?

It's dark dark gray, not charcoal.. Not quite black.

try teamfordparts.com but you're only gonna find 2 models and both will be labled "black"

So will part # XR3Z7213BA match my dark charcoal interior, or is it darker? I tried teamfordparts.com but only saw the boots. Don't all 99-04s have the same color shift knobs (except for Mach 1s, 6spd Cobras, etc.)? Where does anybody find these? I can't believe that the dealer parts departments I've called can't even help...

they're all the almost black color...

If you're that worried about it check the aftermarket options from MGW, Steeda, UPR, and American Muscle.

+1 on the Ford racing knob. Looks awesome. :nice:

If you want the stock knob, there all the same color as far as I know so the one that there telling you is prob the one your looking for.

Hmmm, for $45 shipped, I might just go for the FRPP one. It looks like it definitely matches the grey interior and would be a bit of an upgrade anyway. The other one may or may not match. This one looks like it is definitely black and would stick out like a sore thumb. I think it might match a 94-98, but not 99+.

Thanks for the help!

your shift boot is black your ebrake is black... the shifter is black

I'm not trying to be an ass, but you don't seem to be understanding that what the sites are calling black is actually the very very dark gray. It's the same color in every stang except the Bullitt.

The FRPP one is a nice piece, it's what I have in my car... it's black... it goes just fine.

see... black.. notice the knob is more gray than the 2 boots which are really black. All the Ford OEM stuff is labled black even though it's not exactly black...

No offense taken. All I know is that in my car, the boot, knob, and everything around it is dark grey. Not black. If Ford wants to call it black, even though it is clearly dark grey, that's ok. The only thing that confused me is the picture on the site I linked to in my last post that (at least in the picture) looks completely black, and not at all dark grey. Maybe that's a bad shot. At any rate, looking at the pictures here and even the description at americanmuscle.com, the RFPP one should match my dark charcoal interior perfectly.

One last question - Are the numbers and lines on the FRPP one just painted on, or are they recessed a little? Just wondering if they would have a tendency to wear off over time...

Thanks again for all the help!
