Grinding Gears?

takes practice, when i first got my car i really didnt know how to drive stick at all so i watched my friends who already had their mustangs for a while, its all about timing, if you have a stock shifter shifting is gonna be more of a bitch too because those things feel like a stick in the sand, first if u dont have a short throw shifter get one. but pretty much when i drive if im racing or just beating on my car once my foot is planted to the floor on the gas pedal it doesnt come up, you just have to tap the clutch very lightly, just enough so it engages but without your engine revving. its just a feel you have to get, eventually you will get it, everyone misses a gear once in a while, it happens to the best of us, theres no way around it and if people tell you they have never missed a gear then they dont beat on there car or race it or have any fun in it.

yea i had a 95 auto and i though it was boring so i got a beater car that was stick and learned on it, then got my 5spd 94 and love the car! right now it's still in the shop gettin the block done, i can't wait to get it back so i can bang threw the gears

Ummm....don't try to put the shifter into any gear unless the clutch is all the way down.

i wouldn't say that, u can move the shifter if clutch is engaged but it does not need to be all the way down unless ur going into 1st from a stop

Im about to get a short shifter too, theyre right about the stock one. i often times can not get it in the gear i want. But that just may be the T5 sucking as it is, but i never had problems in other cars i drove. Thinkin im ordering a steeda tri ax because its adjustable and would like a lil bit more leverage on the higher setting since i dont like using so much force to put it in gear when i just want to cruise

i learned on my stang about a year ago. my clutch is still iin good condition. sucks that my second gear grinds but it has been doing that for awhile. ur tranny could be grinding in third gear and it doesnt matter how well you shift, you still might grind all day long when at higher rpms. just a thought
