Me personally, i'm more receptive to suspension mods than engine mods.
For the engine i'd really need some documentation to trust who and what has been done and even then i'd still be skeptical.

I've come to the realization that coupes are expensive.

I also think fir $10k the car should have a working ashtray

If the 4cyl conversion was really well done, I wouldn't care. That would be a tall order to prove without an extensive amount of time with the car, though.

I still can't understand why people care so much more about coupes. I've always liked the older fastbacks, and in the foxes the hatch is just a better shape. Ok... 100 lbs. A bit of structural rigidity in a wet noodle chassis either way! I'm glad the world isn't made up of folks like me or the hatches would be more expensive, lol.

100% concur on the suspension mod stuff. Only the known good stuff, though.

The problem is what is considered well done?

V8 fuel lines swapped over? Brake lines properly rerouted? K-member swapped? (There is a difference in spring perches) Brake system upgraded to 5.0 specs? Misc wiring harnesses swapped out to V8/trans specific harnesses? Cluster tach swapped and mileage matched? If an auto to t5 swap, was the trans hump welded in?

I'm a big sucker for attention to detail, and these things matter to me when trying to determine overall value of a specific car...not that I am any sort of authority.

Of course, my own car is an interior and trans swap car, so who am I to judge.

You know something weird? I find myself liking the porno red interiors with black seats and a black headliner swapped in. When I had my red interior in high school, I wished so badly that it was grey. Now that I have grey, I think its very bland.

You could try customizing it a bit. Maybe add some trim from LMR.

If it makes you feel better, I find black boring now as well. It photographs well but overall it's a PITA as dust and dirt show easily and in bright sunlight all the minor scratches and flaws show.

If I could order myself a new fox with any color oem interior, it would be 1993 Opel. Just looks so clean.

I don't mind red these days. Black carpet and seats and maybe some black door carpet and I my looks pretty sweet. My old porno red interior was absolutely mint when I yanked it out and sold it all for $100. I kick myself for that.

Behold....1997

Probably why I got a stellar deal for it back in the day. Previous original owner was a lady in her 60s. I have a name but any effort to look her up has been a dead end. She'd be in her 80s by now. Doubt she's on the book face

Here's my take on a 4cyl swap car, it would have to be something really really special to spend 10 grand on.
While I don't find anything wrong with a v8 swap, I just don't think you can ask original v8 money for it.
If I were in the market for a car I probably wouldn't even give a v8 swapped car a look, i'd be afraid that it would be harder to sell when I was done with it.

Now on the other hand if i wanted to buy or build a race car, a 4cyl would be my first choice.

You guys are making me feel better about having sand/tan interior. Still waiting for it to grow on me.

It has potential, leather flofits or recaros and a momo wheel go a long way.
I have the saleen book so I've seen pics of this car before, but it looks good enough that I don't forget it.

When I bought my car, I was really surprised to see tan interior. I had seen pics of the outside before I bought it and just assumed that it was red inside. My vert interior was gray, notch was black vinyl, and my other notch back in the day was red, all red.
