I need to get my car smogged and i was wondering if there is a carb number for te GT 40 intake??? if not, am i screwed for the smog? of should i just stick the stock intake 5.0 plate on there and hope for the best... thanks...

i don't know, but i can appreciate your question because i think when the time comes for a manifold a cobra manifold would be best for me. living in az, they do, as in cali, tend to eye ball things real close if it's obviouse it isn't stock....
so i'll add on to your question the same thing about the cobra manifold, being the gt40 and cobra share the same lower intake.....
i'd also like to add if i may with out jacking the thread if anyone knows or has any comments about the quility of the cobra manifolds being they are " out sourced/foreighn made " ???

if your manifold has the plate or name badge on top wouldn't it be a the cobra upper and not the gt40???the lowers are the same, but the gt40 upper is the tube looking one where the cobra ismore stock-ish looking with the cobra name plate
i know both of them are perfectly legal it's just a matter of how picky the inspectors get and yeah it would be nice to have a carb certification number...

Dude Iam prety sure there is no carb # for that intake. I have one on one of my mustangs I live in LA and have had no questions asked about the intake. I just keep my mouth shut and if they ask say thats they it has always been. good luck chris

Ok thanks for the replies. And yes it is the tubular intake, hence the reason i said GT 40... Hopefully they arent picky, and just do the damn smog. If not ill have to play dumb.... thanks again. :SNSign:

I know this is a reply to a very old post, but it might do some people some good since no one answered correctly.

The Ford Motorsport GT-40 intake does have a CARB E.O. number, it is D-308-10, as one of the components of the "5.0L Mustang Kit" that Ford Motorsport used to market.

This, again, does not apply to Explorer Gt-40 style intakes, but only to FMS part # M-6001-A50, which was a kit including the upper M-9424-A51 and lower M-9461-A50 GT-40 intake.
