I havent been to the track as often as Id like and most of my cruising is in the idle to 5500 rpm or so. Im thinking about the gt-40 intake cause I been reading about how great it is as far as its torque production is concrned, I can rev it real good from 3000 rpm on up, but Id like a bit more low and mid range torque and the pro. products typhoon intake Im running now is just like the edelbrock rpm , designed for top end h.p. Is any one running the same intake and noticed a drop off in low to mid range torque?

Yea your right on, the typhoon is made for higher RPM's. I felt a decrease is low end as well. I went from the cobra manifold to the typhoon. But i found the increase in top end was well worth it.

The major problem i see, is that your cam is already designed for 2500+. I think your best bet would be to go with a edelbrock performer if you want to get some low end back.

I havent noticed too much low end with my GT40. However it seemed to totally pick my car back up where the 4.10s leave me (on the highway).

I thought about that too, but will the eddy performer fit the typhoon lower? I know they are supposed to be identical, but in a recent mag article the guys at pro. products said their manifold flows better because of "strict port placement".I guess it'd be safer to get some measurements? But the gt-40 is supposed to be balls out when it comes to torque. Then again the perf. upper is like 240.00 compared to like 500.00 for the gt-40.

I've heard the quality of the Typhoon is crap. Some guys like it but I've heard a lot of people complain about how it's cast and thus how it could potentialy flow. If you get it ported or just cleaned up then it might not be too bad. On the other hand, some Ford products are of A+ quality....GT40 being one of them.

I wasn't impressed by the casting either, and the mac elbow adapter looks like a hunk of concrete, I had to clean that up quite a bit also. We get what we pay for I guess. One typhoon intke soon to be for sale.

At least you got a namebrand elbow. I bought a generic one, new for $49.99. Fit/quality was ok at best. You do get what you pay for....i've learned that.
