gt-40 p's deal or not

ok well im lookin into buying a set of heads soon, and i found a pair of aluminum gt-40p's in good operating condition, with some minor port work done,
some street mostly strip use, they been sittin for a while, hes askin 350 bucks for em. they worth it?

also whats the best headgasket to use with the aluminum heads on an iron block?

and could i use stock length pushrods and will i have any piston to valve clearance problems with my planned combo, lemme know what you think
and what kind of power id be lookin at

68 302 block, stock pistons
gt-40p's edelbrock performer rpm intake, holley 600 cfm carb
proform 1:6 RRs
lunati voodoo hydraulic flat tappet 227/233 @.050 .522/.538

one more thing , can someone give me some part numbers of long tube headers that will work on the p heads

thanks in advance :SNSign:

lol gt40p's arent aluminum, they are iron.

I got my stock gt40p's complete with new vavle springs and a vavle job, and brand new scorpion rockers for 290 and picked them up local. If they had port work done they may be worth it but then again it can be a crappy home port job. And you said theyve been sitting around. Go on corral and you can find a much cheaper set, I actually know a guy that is selling gt40p heads and will prob sell them to you cheap. and again gt40p heads are NOT aluminum.

BBK longtube headers will work with gt40p heads with some minor adjustments, like 90 degree wire boots, and maybe a homemade socket to get to the sparkplugs.

There are MANY different kinds of gt40 heads. The ones you posted ARE aluminum but used they would cost around 700 bucks. The ones he is trying to sell you are stock IRON heads from a 5.0 explorer. The link you posted and gt40p heads ARE NOT!!!! the same heads. Like I said 350 is alot for gt40p heads especially with port work you dont know much about. Read up some more info.

I have gt40p's also with mac long tube headers and no problems with plug clarence, and i have the ford racing blue wires from summit! Heres a pic of them:

ok then, i couldve sworn he said gt-40p's but i must've heard wrong then because they are definitely aluminum, youll have to forgive me im kind of new to this kind of thing, and im trying to find out some more info which is why i posted here

for clarification, they are used aluminum gt-40 heads of some type
ill have to find out exactly what kind tomorrow

so how many different kinds are there??

Like 5? Theres gt40's from cobra's. gt40p from explorers. And like the aluminum versions whitch are like y, or x, or z or something. Make sure you find what kind they are, he could have just painted them to look aluminum. Try to pick them up, if you feel like your back is about to break they are irons. No way someone will sell aluminum heads, ported at that for 350 when anyone will easily pay 750 for them. goodluck!
