well i might begettin some heads off a explorer and i i thkn there gt 40 and i was wonding has anyone ran those on a flat top piston engine and i plane on gettin about .500 cam and im gettin mass air has any one ever takin a swing at this??

I cant answer your question, but find out the year of the explore. I believe its 95-96.5 are iron gt40's, and 96.5+are gt40p's. The p's need special headers.

if i remember right they are the gt-40 iron heads. and require special headers. ford motorsport makes them

I just bought a '99 Explorer engine and it has flattops with 4 eyebrows. Look up compression for a '99 and that approximately what it will be.

the cr should be the same for them, but Daniel's correct, you do have to get different headers because of the plug angle on the explorer P heads...

correction: the cr will go up a hair with the P heads (aren't they 58cc?), and should stay the same with the plain GT-40's
