I get asked about and see a good amount of threads asking about the GT & Cobra maf differences. I'm sure you have seen them as well with Q's like:

If one maf is caled for such & such ......
If one pcm does the cal for the maf then why ......
The list of Q's could go on .......

Here is a difference you may not have thought about.

A good while back, I ran the stock maf on my current sig combo. To make it work, I had to get a bit creative so I got pretty familiar with the curve from both mafs.

I've always known, in a round about way, the two curves were close. Especially in the Closed Loop portion of the curve.

I also knew the GT had a bit more breathing room up top over the Cobra.

I decided to throw both curves in Excell and see the differences.

I had no idea they were this close

See for yourself

So that's the compensation for the Cobra's improved flowpath, at the broadest point of difference, is there roughly a 10.4% difference?

The maf is the same, the transfer is diff.

that is if I have that part correct. Both mafs have the same part number

You are correct about the maf's being identical, the table is showing the two airflow maps from their respective ecu's - the cobra's being calibrated higher because of the benefits from the intake and head revisions.

Look again at the high end

The GT will read about 50 kg/hr more air flow.

Pretty close but, it saved my bacon for a while until I could move up

GT has more air flow, yet the cobra has more fuel delivery. I guess we just figured out why GT's ping like there is no tomorrow.

Nice research Grady!
