GT vs SRT4 results

I know theres been a debate on here and other forums about gt's racing srt4's and who would win. Well my buddy has an srt4 with a tune, 3" downpipe, CAI, and he's running 17psi. I have the mods in my sig. We did 2 runs yesterday after leaving work... big road noone around at night and no side roads for people to pull out in from of you.
from a dead stop he pulled about 3/4 of a car on me until about 2nd gear then i creeped up on him, hit 3rd and beat him by about 3/4 of a car.
from a 2nd gear 40mph run, we were pretty much dead even, but he had to shift quicker than me and do i got about a car length on him..
I'm not the greatest driver in the world and either is he, but those cars are really quick. I thought i was gonna walk him but i guess not.. 2 weeks from now we will be hitting up the track and doing a rematch. Then i will post the results and times up then.. who knows maybe he'll slaughter me on the track, or maybe i'll get him.
But anyway there's some kind of results for you guys to look at.. and yes i know, srt4's ARE neons

No offense but he cant drive, he should have smoked you when he hit 3rd hear at 17lbs.

You will walk him on the track those skittles cant hook up ........ever

His car technically should walk you.

They are 14 second, high 14 second cars bone stock IF the person can launch it.

Still, a kill is a kill though, good job. Your driving must be a little better than you think.

They're fast for what they are, but certainly not unbeatable. A buddy has a Mopar Stage 2 2004 SRT4 (the year with an LSD), and he can't cut better than a 2.2 60' time on street tires. I beat him with a 13.7 to his 13.8, same day, back to back. It was a hot and humid day, so it was probably hurting him more than me, but still. I only dynoed at 240 rwhp (before TB/Plenum, CAI, and catback) to his 280fwhp.

no the SRT 4 shouldn't have smoked the GT. 17psi is only like 3psi more than stock on the SRT 4. the results sound about right considering the mods to both cars except you should have taken him hard off the line.

So a stock SRT4 makes 14lbs of boost. Well my dad's truck makes about 44lbs of boost stock.

a buddy of mine has srt4 stage2 and his will hit 20lbs but holds at 18lbs of boost if we run from a stop/hole it is a slaughter fest. from a 40 roll i can creep on him but from 40 -120 i can put about a car on him. but they are pretty quick for a stock little neon. the quickest his car has ran is 13.92@101 with 110 octane.

my car is 99 gt automatic, all small bolt-ons, 3:73s. my best N/A is 13.4@103..... i havent ran him with the bottle yet that is going to be fun

Yea i agree that they are pretty quick cars but DBMSTNG is right he shouldn't have smoked you. Also you should have pulled him a WHOLE lot harder from a dig. When my car was stock i raced a stock (im guessing) neon "srt-4", and by third gear i was like 3-4 cars in front of him. Just work on launching and trust me your car will surprise the hell out of you.

I raced an srt4 about a month ago and when I hit second gear my intake pipe blew off and I still pulled him to the next stop sign, with no boost and no pipe hooked to my throttle body. My car wouldnt even idle.

your 2.97 first gear in that T56 isnt helping you with those 373's...all and all I would say you did pretty well

ive raced many cars in my short driving career, but the srt4 is a car ....i refuse to EVER lose to. ive walked two almost stock ones in my 98 GT, and every time i do, i just wanna role down my window and just talk crap, not that i ever have, but yeah....i dunno...im just a hater on that car...in an immature way too. and i bet someone is gonna tell me im immature after reading this, but im sorry, i cant stand those cars. but then again, i bet A LOT of people cant stand them.

I feel the same way about those. There was one around here that everyon talked about how fast it was. I caught him on the highway one day in the 90, which has ported E7's, E cam, Typhoon intake, 3.73's and full bolt-ons and I absolutely murdered him, twice, and his friend in the Sentra SE-R or whatever. Then one day I had two other people in my car and I did it to him again. I haven't heard anything about that car since then.

I raced one with exhaust and intake, and i had just exhaust and short throw at the time. It was nearly dead even through second when i pulled on him by a car when i hit third, i beat him off the line though. Also each car had three ppl the car

when i first rode in his car i was like holy ***** this thing pulls hard. then i got in mine and it felt about the same as his.. I was pretty sure i would beat him but i was hoping to walk him.

It was his 1st time ever racing and from a dead stop we both couldn's hook for crap.. mine was spinning forever it felt like.. that was probably my 6th time ever racing my car too though(well from a stop)... I'm sure soon when i start to go to the track more and i get to work on my launches better he'll be starin at my taillights from far away...

for some reason i never do good from a 2nd gear pull.. i never can find the right rpm or something to come out ahead... maybe more practice is needed there too... except i really don't feel like getting my car crushed and im not that big on street racing. well, hpefully when i get to the track i'll tear him a new one oh, i forgot to mention his car was lowered too... if that makes any difference

not bad man good job taking him down.

it sounds like he cant really drive though. those cars can run high 13s pretty easily stock. with his mods that is easily a low 13 second car. I have a buddy with less mods than that on his srt4 and he turns 13.4s all day long on street tires at like 105. they are quick cars but cause of front wheel drive you really have to know how to drive.

like another buddies srt with a 50 trim everyone thought he had a 10 second srt i think i was the only one that doubted him he turned mid 12s though on slicks lol he got owned by a kenne bell GT multiple times.

i would say its not the car u are hating on its the drivers. the drivers of those cars yes they can be hot heads and think they are the ****. but they dont know what they are doing most of the time. kinda like many years back when i raced a ws6 when i was mostly stock and won its not cause my car was faster its cause he talked smack and couldnt drive lol he was missing gears left and right.

ur right on the drivers, i hate them too, but dude, theres something about that car that makes me wanna run over it with a monster truck. one, flat out, it IS a p.o.s. then, on top that, its just defines ugly. and to make matters worse, its power windows in the front than manual windows in the back....i think im missing one more thing about it.....OH YEAH, its Front wheel drive...haha thats gay. but just like you said, the drivers, on top of all this, make my hatrad for it 1000x worse.

Agreed. SRTs are the gayest, crappest looking cars ever built. I wouldnt be seen dead in one. I dont care if it had 2000hp.

ha ha they do look pretty gay, and they have the same shifter at a pt cruiser which is extremely gay.. and it's in a horrible position... Everybosy is right about the drivers too.. anyone ive ever met that had one was really cocky and like "my srt4 will kill your mustang." I quess i'd probably be cocky too though if i had a 4cyl car that could run 13's stock
