So I've heard talk of the GT40P (Explorer head combos) around hear a lot. People like 25thmustang talking about running 12s on such a set up.

I wanted to create this thread to find out what components one would need to make this combo work.
Obviously heads, intake, cam and full exhaust system.

So, here's what I've come up with:
GT40P Heads, port and polished
1.7 RRs
70mm T-Body
GT40 Intake
Crower 15321 Cam (282* intake/288* exhaust, power from 2200-6000rpm)
BBK Headers, Xpipe and some mufflers.

Opinions on the cam?
Any other supporting mods? MAF, fuel stuff, etc.

my opinion, use a smaller cam, like the E-303, or F-303, and use the stock throttle body to avoid any driveability issues. I kinda doubt a bigger throttle body will help you enough to justify it. Also, I would use 1.6 RR's to avoid any valve geometry problems, such as the pushrods rubbing on the head casting, unless you are sure your pushrods will clear, then i would recommend the 1.7

We run Tristate cylinder heads gt40p's which have 1.90 1.60s and a valve job with an explorer upper and lower, modified explorer 65mm throttle body, an anderson n-21 cam with 1.7 roller rockers, 70mm cobra mass air, 24s, kirban regulator, .375 intake spacer, on a stock bottom end for years. Its very reliable and has awesome power. Been used as a daily 110 mile commuter for 5 years. 200,000 plus miles and still runs mid 12s.
