ok i have a few questions...

right now im on the hunt for a good set of p heads and have been looking up a lot of info about them. i would like to get them milled down a bit but i dont know how much i can go if i run lets say a steeda 19 cam.

0.030 ? or could i take it to 0.050 before running into clearence issues?

not really interested in port work but plan on gasket matching (along with my cobra intake)

also what valve springs would you recomend (1.6RR's)

This isn't exactly what you're asking, but if I was you, I would put the money into porting them over getting them milled. They alrady will raise your compression. Although it is nice to do it when buying used.

Are you doing the clean up yourself, because if not, you do realize that you could end up having quite a bit of money into them right?? I was looking for some p's too and everyone wanted way too much for them. I couldn't find any for under $400 and that doesn't include the price of milling, springs, porting, valve job, guides....

I don't think you will have a clearance issue with the Steada #19 cam with the 1.6 rockers. You'll only have a .480 lift with that cam. Pre 85's with the flat top pistons would be trouble.

Your compression ratio will increase with those GT40p's. They only have a 59 cc chamber as is. Are you going for high compression?

If you are interested...

I just traded my 1994 Mustang today for a 2002 Ranger and I have all of the parts that I was about to use in it sitting in my garage for sale now.

1. Brand new GT-40p castings with a 5 angle valve job and new stainless steel oversize valves ready to go.

2. Brand new Mac GT-40p ceramic coated shorty headers. The ceramic looks like chrome.

3. Pulleys [slightly used... like new]

4. 65mm Throttle body [slightly used]

5. 255 LPH in tank fuel pump [new]

6. 95 Cobra intake [upper is used, but the lower is a new take-off]

7. Crane Gold Race 1.7 roller rockers [new]

I figure the above items would be worth almost 100 horsepower without haveing to replace the cam and I will let the whole package go for $1400 plus shipping.

i would be doing the gasket matching myself, theres no shops around here (that i know of atleast) that would do port work so i only wanna have em milled a lil.

is the steeda a decent choice for a daily driver or could i benefit more from a different cam while still having some sort of reliablity

I used to run P heads they were milled .020 with a e-cam setup which I retarded the cam shaft 4 degrees that set up was fantastic for top end pull from the eight to the end of the quarter it went as much as 27 MPH fro the eight to the end of the quarter with 4.30 gears. I still have the heads but they need to be rebuilt I bent a couple of valves in em I need to sell them since I went to the aluminum head setup If ya want em let me know.

i run a set of trick flow springs, and they work great, however i cant tell you anything about milling/porting, cause mine are box stock. All i know is my explorer intake is REALLY restrictive to my setup, i can physically see how much smaller the ports are then the heads, Any how, if i was to do it again i would use a typhoon or something.
