I’m gonna be running gt40p heads off of a 2000 explorer and was wondering if I could simply use the explorers headers on my 95 Mustang gt, and if not what are some header recommendations or how to make stock headers work so I’m not melting plug wires, thanks in advance.

Im sure I can find something that’ll work I’m not really worried about spark plug access just don’t want to melt any wires.

Hint: If you cannot access the plug wires they will melt hence needing spark plug access.

Another possibility is the FFRP M-9430-P51's. They are ceramic coated so will be a little more but may be able to find those.

If your ditching the egr tube, The fleabay foxbody stainless shorties for $100 or less listed all over the place now work with the p plug angles... There a direct copy of the latest fox body bbk unequal lenght shorties, after they changed the tube routing to the same as P headers with the number 7 Primary tube looped out like shown on these old ford racing P set.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2045579790...pid=5335821607&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 will need hardware for h pipe and probably better gaskets pretty sure you can find them even cheaper too.

Ok sorry for the late response but I took a set of bbk shorties off my brothers fox and they seem to fit very good I’ll just need to get a 90 degree boot for cylinder #7 and I’ve got header wrap too

How often you plan on driving the car? Header wrap on a daily might not be a good idea due to trapping moisture, eh?

The cheapy China stuff is stainless like the old motorsport stuff, not mild steel like bbk's. , I'd be more worried about heat cycle cracking then rot, though qualities been fine from what I' ve seen. China's been making them for pypes, lmr, Holley and other brands etc for over a decade now. Hell, headers that held up the best for me over the years on daily beater foxbody where the China cheapy Ls swap long tubes I made fit a sbf, They don't rot like the mild steel stuff, just get a little color to them.

If it were me I would wrap just the area on the exhaust where it is close to the spark plug wire. The plug boots trap heat and over time will cook the plug wire. I have seen this and will not run them due to this.

Instead of wrapping the header, what about spark plug wire heat protectors? They work well on my car. I don't have a great photo handy but you can kind of see them here and they are touching the headers and have been that way for some years without harm.
