gt40X heads.. or gt40P?

What can you guys tell me about the gt40x aluminums? Ive done some searching but cant come up with concrete info. Would these be ideal for a mild (but torquey) street setup, or would I be better of with gt40P irons? I know trickflows, edelbrocks and afrs are much more advanced than the ford gt40 series, but moneys the limiting factor here. For a daily driven street combo (consisting of the stock HO cam with 1.7s, and a cobra intake) would you recommend the X's or the P's and why?

the X's are superior to the p's in almost every way, they are half the weight, flow more, but they also cost a LOT more.
for the money you will spend on X heads you could get into a set of TW's.
If money is truly you deciding factor then I would stick with a set of gt40's or gt40'ps. with either head, a cobra intake and a stock cam you could easily gain at least 60hp and still retain good driveability and gas mileage.

if those are your only choices id go with the X
the P's have strait plugs i believe, and require specialty headers

I have the GT-40 X303's and you can check the rest of my set-up in my sig. That combo put down 257 rwhp and 295 lb/ft of torque through a stock AOD. I've now switched to a t-5 and will have it back on the dyno in late January for new numbers. I love the power and driveabillity of my car and would recommend the GT-40X's highly.

Thanks for your comments guys, the reason Im comparing gt40Ps to the gt40Xs is because I was planning to use junkyard Ps for my setup, but I was recently offered a set of good condition used Xs for a very resonable price.. sure I could get used Ps for cheaper, but then you can never have the security with a junkyard head.. and if you want to get it ported and get nicer springs (a must) then you will probably exceed the cost of the nice Xs and still have a heavy iron head that flows equal to the aluminums.

Good flow stock.. lighter over the front end.. nice valves/springs/etc.. Im thinkin ill go with the Xs

If I had to choose, I'd get the X heads over the P. Aluminum, so you'll save weight, and they'll flow better. Depends on the price though.

i would also go with the X heads if i could. They will save you weight where you need it and they do flow better than the P heads. They are a proven 270-280 rwhp head time and time again! They are well built too...good for street use!

Need to factor the machine work for the junk yard P's in, not to mention better springs. With the cost of the P's , machine work (cleaning, valve job & deck surfacing) and new springs, "How much cheaper would they really be compared to the x's?

not to mention you can also port the Xs later on, P have little room for porting from what i understand

Thanks guys, these are all points that I have considered, but its reassuring to hear you guys make the same points I'm definately going with the Xs, Im looking for 260-280 streetable rwhp, so I think this head is a happy medium between junkyard Ps and high dollar tfs/afr/edels
