GT500 owners in SOCAL...lighten up!

I've cruised past more than a couple now and given a nice waive to the driver behind the wheel and all I get back is a menacing stare like I insulted his wife or crammed a pole in their back end.

Look...I don't expect for you to stop, get out, and give me a hug. Hell not even a waive back is fine. A nod would be nice or how about just not looking ! Why the need to fire off the stare of pain and doom?

I've only met one and it was at a 4 way stop sign, I threw up my hand as he rolled by and he stone-faced me as if me and my cheap GT weren't there.

That's because they are too busy thinking about how they are driving a REAL Shelby.... haha...

Maybe they think that the high prices of their cars come with egos???

Maybe they were upset because they don't have money for good or gasoline after paying dealer markup. Maybe they wish they had bought a GT instead.

That 1k for gas`guzzler tax is enough to kill a good mood or high. Saw one the other day at the local ford and they wanted 56k.
So i pulled my 05 sonic blue 6'er up next to the black 500 and you know mine looked better.

Yeah, we could call it "GT Envy"

I lived out there in the early 80s. Not meaning to offend, but they don't call that place "The Land of Fruits & Nuts" for nothing.

At least they are out on the street

Around here I only see them at shows. I don't think I've see one out on the street. There is one guy who trailers his, with all the manufactures plastic covers still on the inside and on the outside, and has "please don't touch" signs all around it. He won't come out and play with the rest of us. He must have too much money tied up in it to enjoy driving it, or gets more pleasure collecting it than driving.

I guess if it never hits the road, I can brag about going faster than him in my 94 hp '79 Triumph TR7.

And he probably wins trophies for his brand new trailer queen.
Some car shows won't even admit new cars. It takes more talent and skill, I believe, to restore an old car and bring it back to life than write a large check and haul off a new vehicle.

I had one of those. I often think about the similarities between it and my S197 V6: adequate street performance in stock form (almost-a-sports-car), nice long legs for highway travel, very attractive from most angles. If it weren't for the grill above the Mustang's bumper, and the back seat, the similarities would be even more striking. I like 'em both, but the Mustang is actually in a different class, value-wise.

Wow!! I've met a few GT-500 and Shelby GT owners here in NY and they were all cool even complimented my regular ole' 07 GT with the GT package, they liked the plenum cover a lot, and people say NYkers are rude!!!

If they cannot accept a gesture of friendliness, they are just plain mean and stuck up. That's not a very good thing to be. In my plain ol GT I always smile and waive back or engage in a short conversation before the light turns green.

come on thats cuz I would drive any Mustang with pride....and love them all the same. The guy who looks down on you when hes in his GT500, isnt a real mustang guy!!!!

Actually, I think it's because so many of them have had their asses handed to them by Fox bodies these days that they don't know how to act.

Instead of: "Heya! Thanks for the nod or wave."

Ever engaged in a conversation with your "average" Gt-500 owner? It's like talking to Johnny Ricer Pants. hehe Most of them just put gas in the car and drive it. Being an auto-enthusiast mean that they have a subscription to Car and Driver magazine (makes them experts).

I think that all GT-500s should be recalled and evenly dispersed amongst members of StangNet!
