Progress Report...Guess who's back...the project car is alive again...finally!

Any of my old friends still on here? Its been over a year since Ive been on here. Finally decided to have someone pain my project car and get the darn thing together. Came back to find a specific thread on a 86 GT that was a MMFF feature some time ago.....

Any founding members still alive?

Hey guys! So does anyone remember that 85-86 that was painted a corvette color that resembled dark grey metallic? It had a aluminum front splitter the guy made himself. It was features in MMFF or 5.0 about 4 years ago. I think it was out of Canada. I liked the color and Im ready to finally pull the trigger.

Not yet, but the cover is coming off soon and I will take some. I originally had put a 96 dash in it, but Im thinking of doing something a little cleaner now. Ill post some soon.

I think your the guy who had a white vert that you couldn't get to run right or something then you were the guy who was putting an SN95 interior into a four eye?????

Can't forget a name like Tim the Toolman.

Nope never had a white vert but your right on the dash!
Hey Grover!!!! Been a long time!

Thanks for the pics, I think that was a vette color. I think thats what Im going to go with. Just need to decide if I should use charcoal for the headlight buckets and trim like original. I have a Cervinis cowl hood, and saleen style effects for all but the front. I do have a glass Saleen style front but its for a 87+ and the corners of the bumper cover look crappy.

Well that was a long break

Once again my mustang plans changed and I had to hold off on the project. I recently sold my house and moved to another. With a much smaller garage . The good news is the car gets picked up Sunday to go to the paint shop! I finally settled on a color and now i have just a few minor decisions left to make:

Headlight bucket color, or body color?
Stripes or none?
Belt molding color?

The is originally a 86 GT and I would like to keep the GT moldings on. I am thinking of just going with body color and then cnc cutting a aluminum GT insert for both moldings. The color is going to be similar to dark shadow gray but with blue metal flake. The closet color I can relate it to is the new Vettes in Cyber Grey Metallic. Heres a few pics of the Vette color:

so far we agree, im am still toying with body color buckets because its so dark already. what about window trim etc. i'm thinking definitely black for those. and body color door handles. i can feel the addiction setting back in. feels good

Pick up succesful

Well the paint guy came Sunday to go over the car and give the final price. Originally it was 2k, but I was pretty sure it would be more once he got my to-do list for shaving things, where i wanted paint and didnt etc. Said it wont go over 3 grand completely painted and back to me. I am going body color on the side mouldings and headlight buckets. I am doing the windows in some form of black, and I may go back and do the buckets myself later. Also sent my Cervinis hood, side skirts, and rear air dam. Heres some pics of the start of the process. Bye bye till March Mustang!
