I'll give you a clue how. Two characters. One of them is a 4. The other is, A. Was about to throw the motor back together when I got a call from 12sec67. Saying the block was local, and he wants less than the price of 2 A1000's. So I picked it up. Just have to make myself legal for the times I ran last time at the track and put everything back together. So for now the stock crank will go in. Keep it conservative at about 550 or 6 to the ground and it should live if I give it some respect.
Headers and kit is done. That was pretty easy, but making jigs SUCKS. I'll be getting a 351w real soon and will start on that. I really hope at this point, I can make some money. More and more goes in, that could go into my car.Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'll try to get pics up soon. They are taken, but been really busy.

A little worried. But even guys that make 600 to the ground only kill the block. If the crank goes, and takes the block, it'll need a sleeve more than likely and call it a day.If it goes it goes, I got it dirt cheap. But I think it'll be fine until I get the good stuff for it.Most of the jigs are done for the 302, just need to get that 351w in.

Congrats on finding a sweet block. I'll be patiently waiting for the new times.

Paul:
You are right, but it will take a 9 second run to knock you down. That's a pretty tall order for a street driven car.

Man, this is as close to a call out thread as I've ever seen on here......

Headers look great man......

I still haven't got to make a pass on my new combo and probably won't this year. Been traveling with work and my cage has been delayed until 10-1 to be installed. My Art Carr C4 is slipping in third and is on its way out. When I get home Friday I should have a brand spanking new Performance Automatic super Comp C4 reverse manual valve body with brake sitting on my porch. Lifetime guarantee, rated to 1000HP and free freshen ups for life. I have a buddy that has one that is bulletproof and I have been posting on hardcore 5.0 and those guys said that was the way to go.

It better be for $2K........

Paul, have you got that sub 10 second pass yet?

9 second street car is very impressive for a carbed turbo'd classic (like Paul's). It's crazy though because there are more people than you might think taking advantage of today's fuel injected turbo'd motors and running around in 9 second daily drivers!! Insane.

Look forward to some times 10secgoal....

Thanx dude. I wouldn't call it a call out as much as a friendly"let's see what I can do." I'm really hoping the length on those will help the sppoling time.Don't worry about being knocked down paul. I just want one step ahead. But we don't have a 1/4 around here, so I'll be going for the 1/8 mi time. I just ordered some MLS HG's, 1/2in studs for the head, trans shield, transbrake and two step. Still need a cage. And I really need to tighten the stall. But I'll let them kick me out first. You've definetly got some time to tune. Plus it's about to cool down, which should make you a good 9 sec for sure.

I'm just stirring the pot, I enjoy hearing about everyone fine tuning their combo...

10secgoal - Wait for the cage and do it right and get your car up to spec for as quick as it will run. Things can happen quickly and even at 95 or 100 in the 1/8 the wall hits hard and fast...... Plus when that thing is caged take my word for it, it will launch straighter and harder just due to the chassis being that much stiffer.

Yeah, the cage is why I think at this point traction sucks. She's going 99 right now. But I wanna see 104-106 I think in the 1/8.
Washmo, I would steer clear of that tranny. I saw my buddy send his back to them 11 times. 200 bucks a pop in frieght each time, and it was only a 12 sec car.Freshened up for free, but seemed all he got was a guaranteed piece of...., or maby it was him.I need to go thru mine here, might do it this weekend since the 351w engine swap just fell thru. I might do a right up on how to do it. VERY simple.I built mine over three years ago and have been beating on it with nitrous and now boost. And it finally gave. Will probably cost me about 75 bucks to do it including the gaskets.
I could give you a good place to look for your thrid gear if you wan't too Paul. Have you tried tightening the band yet ?
