Guys with 18"s - need your opinions

Why a 35 profile rather than a 40 prfile up front?? I am thinking of getting 18 x 9s all around and I wand to do 265/40 up front and 295/40 in the back. What do you guys think of this combination.

it is a lot harder to find 265/40s and 295/40s. you are very limited in your choice of tires. at first i wanted 285/40 in the rear and i had a h3ll of a time finding them locally without paying an arm and a leg.

You aren't understanding that 35 means 35% of the width 265. That is why 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 have identical diameters. 265/35/18 is about .2 of an inch shorter than 245/40/18, and the speedometer reads the rear tires.. so its not a problem

295/40/18 would look absolutely ridiculous. Its around 27" diameter.. The stock tire diameter is 25.7"

Thanks man. The rim out back is a 10" rim with regular BFG G-Force TA's. I plan on getting some BFG 315/30 DR's when these are gone. I already talked to discount tire here in S.A. and they told me the tires will fit just fine. I am going to make sure my quad shocks won't be rubbing though.

The Nittos do run smaller than other tires so a 305 Nitto would be the equivalent of a 295 BFG. I'm going with the BFG for the size and they're a bit cheaper than the Nitto 305's....altough they will wear faster due to the type of compound they use. My car only gets driven about 330 miles a month though.....

Thanks for the info That is just what i was thinking 295 BFG = Nitto 305. I plan on going wider in back on the second set of tires, if all goes according to the master plan, my car should only see about the same amount of miles per month by that time. Maybe a tad higher

Also, thanks to everyone who provided all this good feedback, i have plenty of food for thought while i finalize my plans

I have FR500's.... 275 40 18 on the rear and it looks good!!! 245 40 18 for the front!!! I am highly pleased!!!

Does anyone make a wider rear wheel? Maybe 18x10.5 or 18x11 anthracite Bullitt??

Also, what's the MAXIMUM size tires for the 18x9/18x10 combo while keeping a similar outside diameter?

dude put the biggest tire on the back and you can get away with a 275 35 for the front... few do but u can... id put like a 315 on the rear!

I have Nitto 275/35/18 on all four of my 18x9.5 Cobra R's.

I've driven through some really nasty ruts around here. I haven't noticed the tracking being anything worse than the stock Goodyears (hated those tires).
