I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences and pro's and con's between H-Pipes and X-Pipes? I'm looking to purchase one from BBK Performance(already have the BBK Equal Length Shorties), and was wondering what is the better system to go with? I'm kind of looking for a little better sound then performance with this, and will also be running them without cats(hehe, no aircare!). Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

As with many of the things you do to your care it all comes done to a matter of personal opinion, the differences between all of them (pro chamber) included are marginal at best, all of them sound different. As of late the Pro Chamber has been a popular choice by many on here, it has a very deep racy sound, many people run off road H's with flowmasters for that "classic" mustang sound. I chose a bassani x pipe and magnaflow cat-back. I think it sounds very smooth, quiet when you want (read ....need it) very loud when you stomp on it, for me it feels like I lost a little low end torque, but gained more up top where I needed it. I think anyone that you choose will be good for you. again the horspower/torque gains are all around the same....I made this long because I sure you are going to get nailed by someone for not using the search button

But if you haven't tried yet, you might want to do a search, I believe there are several threads on this, with actual numbers (gains) posted

good luck and enjoy!

Wow, is this a joke post because of the Newb post by sirshureshot. Again with the X or H question. Gains are marginal and I think its more bragging rights than anything. Just replacing your stock stuff with anything is better so dont sweat it. But anyone who brags about creating breathing problems for the rest of us can go suck on an exhaust tip. Have a nice day.

Yea, I'm thinking of getting Flowmasters, probably the two chambers, but I'm not sure. I've heard good things of both Dynomax and Magnaflow and a buddy of mines car sounds really nice with the Dynomax cat-back. Anyway, as of right now I'm leaning towards getting an H-Pipe as I've been told that that is the best set-up for sound quality, and thats more of what I'm looking for from my car, at this time anyway.

Not a problem, do you drive long distances with your car????
Just asking because many people complain that the flows have alot of drone and can get annoying sometimes. I never had them so I can't tell you for sure, but I know many of they guys on here have switched them out for other things.

No long distances really, no highway driving in any case. I've heard of the drone, I'll have to consider that, especially if it's enough to make people switch.

And I checked out your clip, nice. I think I might check out what Magnaflow has to offer.

You'll want the X-pipe, I have a full Bassani Exhaust and just like whytry's post, mine is nice and quiet but very Loud when you stomp on it and it actually changes tone after 2000rpm, and there is NO droning whatsoever which Flowmaster 2-chambers are notorious for. You'll get real annoyed with that quickly. That system was worth every penny. My friend had a Mac H-Pipe and then switched to Bassani X-Pipe and it made a huge difference, much nicer.
I have the chrome equal length shorties with the off-road x-pipe and the quiet thunder after-cat system.(Don't worry, I'll try to get a sound clip on here soon )

Like I said choose what you like....then you can't go wrong.
With everything said, If you do not plan on getting haed word or anything done anytime soon, you may want to consider, a catted pipe, you will lose some low end torque with the offroad pipe, not much but it is noticeable, of course you could offset that with some gears. or if you really don't care just do it and enjoy your new sound system!!!!

Don't tell him what he will and won't get tired of. I personally LOVE the drone. I try to keep it at around 2,000 rpms just so I can hear it. Some people like it, some don't. All my friends like it too.

As far as the mid-pipe goes, an h-pipe usually has a deeper more muscular sound. The x-pipes usually have a more raspy sound. My friend has some BBK longtubes, BBK O/R X, and Flowmaster Super 40s, and I think it's to raspy. I like it, but it's to raspy for me. Hence, I'm going with the h-pipe.

Yea, I've actually heard the "drone" in my friends '88 LX with two chambers, and I don't mind it a whole lot. Over regular driving, I don't know, it could start to annoy, but I don't think to the point where I'd want something new.

Yea, I'm leaning towards and H-pipe too I think. I've heard they create more of the type of sound that I'm looking for.

I already said that I didn't notice the search function until after I posted my topic, and in fact, already apologized for starting this thread. Thanks.

I'm gonna get another 5.0, I haven't decided if I want a vert or another gt,
probably a vert though. It'll be nice to pick which one to drive each day.
