h-pipe vs. x-pipe

uhh ohh.. this is going to be bad....
in the end this thread will say that they are about equal and that an xpipe will cause a slightly raspier sound and the h will be more mellow... the x pipe will also out dyno an x but only by a few hp, read as 1-2hp, there is also a third option which is the mac prochamber... it has about the sound of an h but supposedly makes the hp of an x... i got it because i liked the sound it makes...

heres a link to a video that i made of my car after i installed the prochamber on my car w/ flowmasters welded into the stock tail pipes.

i just got rid of my crappy sounding X pipe. and bought an H pipe. best thing i ever did. it has a very noticable lower tone than the X. and i like the low tone opposed to the raspy high tone the X produces.
low=bass, high=treble ----- lol

O-pipe FTW!!

But seriously I thought the rule of thumb was x pipe for straight through mufflers and H pipe for chambered but I don't really think it matters that much...comes more down to sound preference and deleting a couple if not all of the factory cats is where u really make the power from anyway. Differences from X and H are negligible.

I love this kinda thread free post :D
Anyways.
I've had stock hpipe, mac prochamber, mac or hpipe and now a xpipe on my car. So unlike others I know first hand how each felt on the car and how my car sounded with each on it.
stock = well stock and fairly quiet.
Prochamber = liked the deep mellow sound, lots of lowend but doesn't clear and allow inspection of a DS loop :( Fit was super never hit it on any bumps.
H pipe = Sound made me feel all warm and funny, was fair down low pulled clearer to the top than the prochamber. Downside was mine fit like POO and I got tired of exhaust leaks. hung WAY too low.
x pipe = lowend not as strong, mid range sound changes to a scream, and it starts to build power pulls cleanly to redline. Others you could feel them falling off earlier than that. Fit is fair, but not as tight as I would like.

I have a Bassani X pipe with cats and it really makes my exhaust
sound great. It gives my car a nascar sound with a light raspy higher
tone.It is the best mod I ever did on my car.I never had a h pipe on
any of my cars so, I can't comment on it.I only had X pipes on my
mustangs.I would get a Bassani X pipe if you like the sound of a X pipe.

in the next couple of weeks ill be going from O/R H+Flows to SLP LM1+SLP catted X, i was never an X guy but after hearing that i was sold...it all just comes down to sound prefrence....02

Go with an offroad U pipe.:D

Hey, at least we don't see nearly as many of these threads as before.:)

PS: Go with whatever sounds better to YOU. The difference is minimal between H and X. Go to mustangexhaust.com.
