HACK JOB SEE DAYLIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME

Thanks for all the kind words to everybody above!! To come back on some things I said, and that you guys asked:

1. I agree with machined or finished wheels. I might have to get the rears widened at Weldcraft. They sit all the way out so I don't have much under the car.

2. I don't know for sure what I am doing as far as selling it. The black notch might go...but I have to wait to drive it, race, show, cruise it etc.... I am posting pics of it unfinished and it just hasn't grabbed me 100% just yet. I really don't have to sell either, but 3 Mustangs, my truck, and my Grand Prix (that my girl drives) will be chaos in the driveway. I can get all 3 stangs in my garage, 2-1/2 car garage, but it is TIGHT and there is no room to walk between cars. I don't want to keep any of them outside. I have a huge maple tree that drips sap.

3. I will try and get the car in a magazine. I had a customer come in that ended up being a repeat customer, and he is a HUGE Ford nut. He gave me a name and number to an editor for Mustang Monthly and one other mag. I don't think the other is as big as MM&FF, or 5.0 Mustang & Fords, but it would still be cool.

4. The door panels are staying. New map pockets might find their way in there, along with Billet window switch bezels. I have to add up how much I have into it. (Last time I checked I was 2,500 over what I thought I would have to put in it. At this point...who cares.) I have seen what it takes to make parts of the SN95 panels fit, but it looks insanely difficult, time consuming and messy. You have to switch part of the Fox latch with parts from the SN95 latch because the inner door handles push a rod back on the Fox, and on the SN95 a cable pulls the latch forward. The bolt pattern of the door latches is way different between the two as well, so bolting them in is out of the question, (unless you want to weld up the old holes and drill new ones.)

5. I will update soon, once again, thanks to each and everyone of you.:nice:

looks like it would look good in my driveway! not really a fan of yellow usually but your car looks sick. ill trade if you want another project lol. and :stupid: in that the 18' saleens would look badass. that or some nice 17' chrome pony r's with 245s on front an 295's in back. you wont do it! ha. anyways keep it up, car is badass an post more pics as you go along im itchin to see more

You are right. 18" Saleen wheels would be killer. :D I won't do it, because I can't. The 18's do not have the offset I need, so 18X9's or 18X10's and 295's would stick out big time. 17X9 Cobra R's with +24mm stuck out 7/8". Pony R's would be perfect. 17X9 with +46mm offset. I contemplated that idea, but I want something that shows the brakes off a little bit better.

BTW...Just got off the phone with Weldcraft. Nice guy...but...

1. $200 dollars per wheels to widen 1-3 inches.

2. Plus shipping. So I would be looking at $425-$450 depending on shipping to widen two old 97 Cobra wheels that are in decent shape, but not perfect.

Hmmmm.....

what set up do you have that saleens wont work? do you have the entire rear out of the 01? what spindles up front? if the answer is 01 for front and rear then i see what your saying and that sucks beause that thing is screaming for chrome saleens

I agree. I can get replica Bullits for that much or a couple hundre more brand NEW Chrome Bullits/ Pony R's or any other wheel. Or a NOS system....just kidding, shes staying as she is.

295s on pony r's wont stick out. go on there site. http://www.mavromont.com
they have the right backspacing for a normal fox rear to run the 295s with out rollin the fender (so they say) an it doesnt stick out past the quarter. they have tons of pics on different cars.

Those +46mm offset wheels are for foxes with 94-98 axles. Those are 3/4" longer than stock Fox axles. I used the 99-04 rear end, and that is 1-1/2" longer than the Fox, (which is 3/4" longer than the 94-98 axle) 17X8 with a 30mm offset vs. the 17x9 with a +46mm offset will sit exactly the same on the edge of the quarter, I will just have more wheels and tire under the car. I want to get the whole wheel and tire under the car to prevent tire to quarter contact.

Believe me, I would LOVE to have big meats under the car, but I just can't. Plus I don't really need that because I'm not gonna race the car, I know it will look good, but I can't. I don't want to swap the 94-98 axle in, because I had the 01 axle built up and I got the ABS and traction control to work properly.

For the cost of widening the Cobras i'd rather have something different. Have you come across any aftermarket wheels that are in the running? I still feel like the right chrome wheel would just pop on your car! What type of paint did you use on the door locks? I've got the door apart on the hatch to replace the DL actuator and wouldn't mind repainting them with something that won't chip too easily.

good call. i thought that those cars on that site were using stock fox rear end an axles, which still apparently wouldnt work cuz you have the newer rear. kinda sucks. i wanted to go with those pony r's but i refuse to do a 5 lug swap. theres no need to when they make the wheels i want in 4 lug. my question to you is, since there 46mm offset what would it take to run that 295 on a stock fox axle? could have sworn they had em listed on the site to fit that under a fox with stock axles.

Thanks man, I think chrome is right too. I can't decide. Ford Racing polished Bullits are available with my offset for 194 each. I don't want to spend that much man.....

The paint I used just Duplicolor Flat Black on the door locks, and 3 coats of Satin Gloss Clear Coat. They don't shine much, just a little bit. That is what I was going for. It matches the trim on the car so I'm happy. I used SEM Flat Black on the trim, but it still matches.

Yes, they make 17X9's and 17X10's that will both take a 295 tire. You have to buy their regular offset to work with stock Fox axles. The big offset wheels are for longer axle cars that push the wheels out toward the curb. They actually put a 17X10 with a 315 on the back of a Fox without rubbing.

No problem man. Anytime. I will get pics up soon. I have to get help with my damn Operation Mgt homework from my sister tonight. No work got done to the car. I must get up early tomorrow, get to work, and get the spare, jack, tools, and carpet in the trunk. I also need to ground the 3rd brake light and hook up the trunk popper wire. If I get that done in an hour or more/less before work, I'll be happy.

It just pisses my off that my trucks front suspension is falling apart at the same time Hack Job is so close to being done. I took an hour away from Hack Job, to do the ball joint, and taking everything apart revealed that all my other crap is junk too. I just bought brand NEW Upper control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends, front shocks, and while it's on the hoist I'm changing oil, fuel filter, PCV valve and air filter. (374 dollars!!!!) That's Hack Job money!!!! :Damnit: At least I am saving big time on labor doing it myself...
