Well I was coming home from a local cruise spot last night and my acc. belt got slung off so I was like ok no big deal. I take the belt and it is only 3 ribs now and it was 6 so it looks like a string on the pullies well I do this just to get it home and I am on the interstate but I am going like 50 (I did this so I could keep the RPMS low and not stop and go traffic) and then the car all of a sudden starts shaking EXTRMELY BAD and I was like WTF. So I pull over and pop the hood and what do I see? I see my blower belt and my acc belt being drug under the car and the crank/blower pulley with part of the Harmonic balancer laying up against my electric fan but to me it looked like the crank broke in half and i was OMG I have to get a new motor lol well I got to looking and it was just the harmonic balancer had broke off around the bolt and i was like DAMNNNN How am I going to get this thing home. I didnt want to leave it on the side of the interstate because of all the money I have in this car and I didnt want it to get destroyed (by jealous chevy drivers LOL) or stolen which would equal me crying myself to sleep so I call my uncle because I didnt have a 100 dollars to have my car towed home and we pulled it with a chain to my house (REAL FUN THERE lol) get it home and fix it and now runs as good as new....I was guessing the reason it broke is because of all the extra tension that I had on it from the blower belt.......oh yeah almost forgot right before my car broke down I got pulled over because of my tint was toooo dark what BS it is 5 percent but who cares you know anyway I am home and everything is back to normal just thought i would share with you guys my night!!!!!Thanks for reading all this lol

EDIT: Sorry wasnt paying attention I know this should be in talk

Damn, that sucks! Here's to hoping that the balancer just came apart, which is something 5.0L balancer are famous for, rather than the crank snout!

These tint laws are bull, around here we can't tint the front windows, but we can go as dark as we want on the rear windows, from *hearsay* we can paint the rear windows and be legal.

that really blows, but glad to hear you got it back up an running. harmonic balancers are a common problem with our motors. ive seen em go bad an snap cranks if you dont catch it soon enough. either way your lucky it didnt destroy something else. and here in jersey a tint ticket is $44 so its not to bad. but i do agree that its bs. cuz alot of cop cars around here have all the windows like 5%.

Yeah mine is 5%.But see I heard that as long as your driver and passengner side windows arent below 35% its legal and he said it wasnt and thats a lie. He said he was tired of writing tickets so he would let me go on a few things like: dead inspection, slick back tires (lol) he also said that my tail lights were illegal even though I have red bulbs...and i was like I asked the DA last time i was in court and he said as long as they glow red it was fine so I told the cop whatever and I hope I didnt do anymore damage to the engine. It seemed to run fine after I got a new one. It didnt run long when the HB broke
