I just got my Infinity speakers installed (they're component sets) and they don't seem like they have any bass to them. I'm running them off of a 350.4 Kicker amp. My stock speakers sounded bassier. Also, the install shop used 18 gauge wire to re-wire my car for these speakers (is this a big enough gauge?).

about the bass, check the crossover on the amp, might be set to high. your factory was either not crossed over, or it was somewhere around 80hz. i would suggest around 80hz for those speakers (i have them in my pathfinder, and am using a 12db per octave slope at 80 hz).
on the subjest of wire, no 18awg is not big enough. you should at least have 14awg in there. your factory wiring is 16 or 18, no worse than what is in there now. i think i would complain if i was you.
BTW shop wire is usually 16 or 18 awg, good stuff is not free wire, you should buy good wire, and have them put it in.

As for the bass problems, I still don't know what you mean. I'm new to audio. I don't see how the factory couldn't have been crossed over, because I have no factory parts in my car. All factory amps and audio components, and just recently the wiring, have been removed.
Infinity speakers dont have alot of bass at all. I have a set of them in my garage because i tryed them and replaced them because of that reason. Did you have the amp installed at the same time? The crossover that he was talking about is on the amp. takes out the very lows. change the settings on the amp and see what it does
the primary wire is the power wire fron the battery. it might have been a miss print, but it was most likley 25' of 8 awg red primary wire.

For that wattage and distance, 24ag wire would be sufficient. The wire is fine. About the lack of bass, take off your door panel. See all those gaping holes? Cover/seal them. You can use deadening material (Dynamat, FatMat, RoadKill, etc), wood, rigid plastic, anything to isolate the rear wave of the speakers from the front. I used a combination of 3/8" hardboard (like pegboard without the holes) and then covered the whole thing with eDead in my '02. It made a night and day difference in the lowend response of my midbass drivers.
Okay, I set the x-over at 80 Hz for amp 1 and amp 2 on the 4-channel. I did notice increased performance in the rear speakers, but hardly anymore bass than previously. Now, more questions:
-What should I set my Input Gain at? the knob goes from 0 to 11.
-What should I set the Bass Boost knobs to? It says in the owner's manual that if you turn the bass boost up, then you need to adjust the gain control to avoid clipping the amp.

the gain on the amp is to adjust for input. it gives flexability to the decks. not all decks are made the same, and the gain, bass boost, and crossover allow you to make every input signal sound the same. i do not reccomend turning the gain up past half.
as for the bass knob turn it all the way up, then adjust the gain on the amp to just a touch above what you want out of the speakers, then turn the knob down to each style of music you listen to.
i personally do not reccomend using bass knobs. they can be a easy way for you to destroy the speakers. if everything is not setup correctly, and you crank the knob up to impress someone, you will blow your speakers.
