I did not see a ballast anywhere or any extra wires running over to the battery so it might be safe to assume they are an H1 bulb.
I guess my next question would be: how do you remove/install these bulbs? It doesn't look like the typical setup where you twist a plastic ring and pull the bulb out. From what I can see, there appears to be a rubber boot that can be pulled back and then there is a metal clip of some sort which might be what holds the bulb in place...not sure though. It looks like a bitch to replace even the low beam bulb. If it was the left side that was bad, the battery would have to be removed to get at anything!

Got it. Ok then removal is easy.

First there are 2 slide pins located underhood that secure the entire assembly in place. Remove both and you can then pull straight out on the housing. Pull slowly and behind you'll find your main harness plug. Disconnect that and next you'll have to see how the extra lights are wired in.

If you have quick disconnects then disconnect both the positive and negative wires and you should be able to pull the housing completely out.

After that you can get a better look at how the bulbs are secured. First pull back that rubber boot, there is a slide on electrical connector that slides onto the bulb itself, disconnect that. After that, you'll find a small clip that needs to pushed in and then to the side and out, its a retention clip. Once its loose you'll see the bulb which can be removed now. H1 bulbs have these small round tabs that guide the bulb into the correct position, they can be a pain sometimes to get in properly.

Ok good then. The lows on these are comparatively easy to change versus the hi's. Those require a bit of finesse..

That last one sort of illustrates what I was talking about when I said they're often not really intended to be serviced or replaced. In the case of the Accord lamp mentioned there he's talking about needing a soldering iron, the bulbs being (ultra)sonically welded in place, needing to put the things in an oven etc. Yours may or may not require such gymnastics to fix the halos but in any case, it's clear that in that particular design, in-field replacement of the bulbs was not part of the requirements specification...

Trinity, I think the link to the bulb you posted is for the actual halo itself. What I need is the low beam, which actually is in the center of the halo. I believe DJ fury solution is going to be what actually needs to be done in my situation. I will find out in a little bit here and let you guys know how it went.

Got it! It turned out not to be the bulb after all. The ground wire to it brole off its connector. I put a new slide connector on it and was done!

DJ fury, for future reference, what all is involved in replacing the high beam? It looks like some disassembly is required for that.

Good deal man, glad you got it easy.

Ok so the high beam is harder to get in because there's no direct access.

What you have to do is remove the low beam bulb completely so that you can get a couple of fingers in there, and if you look on the bottom of the assembly you'll see a round rubber plug beneath the hi beam bulb. Remove the plug and you can then look in from underneath.

There's another retention clip holding in the bulb and you can get it undone by a couple fingers in the low beam opening, and a couple fingers up from underneath. Removing the old bulb is the easy part. Unlike the low beam which can be installed and then wired up afterwards, the hi beam requires the wire to be put on first, otherwise you'll have a bitch of a time getting the connection onto the bulb. Wire up the new bulb and slide on the connector for it and then its going to be a battle to get it to slide in just the right way. Same deal as removal, installation requires fingers in the low beam opening and from underneath. Slide that retention clip back on, plug the bottom and reinstall the low beam.

Have fun with that if you ever actually have to do it. First time I did it there was liberal cussing involved.
