Sometimes my car will hang in gear but not all of the time and it grinds going into reverse. could this be my clutch not adjusted right or can it be a problem with the shifter being old. it has a new clutch in so it is not wore out.

Do you put it in a forward gear then reverse? If not thats your grinding issue. Every 5.0 I have driven had to be placed in a forward gear before going into neutral, but not other cars I have ever been in were like that.

As far as hanging, you have to explain more. Hanging RPM?

i agree with 25th. these t-5's will grind unless when your stopped ready to back up you shift into a foward gear and then into reverse. I actually had one t-5 tranny that didn't do that but that was 6 tranny's ago.

on thw hanging issue it happens like when you are rolling in like 5th gear and you push the clutch and try to pull it to neutral the shifter will not budge. but the rpms are down to an idle with the clutch in.

My rebuilt T-5 in the notch will sometimes grind in reverse. I noticed that I was being lazy and not pushing the clutch all the way to the floor. So now I have to put it down 100% of the way and not 99% of the way. Also, sometimes if I put it in R too fast it will grind so I just do it nice and slow....she likes it like that:lol:
