hey guys,

every so often, when my car has been sitting over night, i come out to start it and it will crank and crank and crank but without turning over. eventually it turns over after about 10-15 seconds of cranking. the car will also idle erractically on cold start ups. then when i give it some gas it will miss fire. once the car warms up a little bit or a rev it up to like 4000rpm a couple times the missing and the idle problems go away. any ideas on what could be causing this?? thanks!

Wow, I didn't know we were allowed such huge sig pics

On topic:
When was the last time a tune-up was done? First things I'd check would be the plugs, wires, cap/rotor and most importantly, the fuel filter. Did you check for codes?

No kidding.^^

Just for clarity: Cranking = turning over = whir whir whir.

If the engine actually starts, it 'catches'.

In addition to Stephane's wise advice, I'd ohm out the ECT sensor to see if it's close to being within spec.

If you depress the gas pedal a little ways, will it start (catch)? If so, that suggests a bad IAC.

Good luck.
