Ok, anyone who has read my previous threads knows how much trouble I've had with this pony but I'm happy to report that it has been running perfect since I managed to fix it. Now, I'm finally interested in fixing all the other problems :)

When I go to shift my automatic into gear, its very tight. In order to get it into drive I have to "pump shotgun" shift it but bringing it all the way into 1st then pushing it up to drive. If I have to go to reverse, there doesnt seem to be a positive detent for it and the indicator hovers between D and N most times. After driving it, when I go to put it into park I really have to push the damn thing forward HARD most times to get it forward. Its also extremely hard to move into any gear but not always.

I crawled underneath and where the cable attaches to the tranny "looks" ok, the screw isnt loose and theres not a lot of gunk packed around the slider. I was going to pull the console this weekend and see if theres something wrong with the shifter itself and see how easy a cable replacement would be. Has anyone ever had these issues with an automatic before?

So, best guesses welcome, is it bad shifter, bad cable, internal tranny problems or a dead racoon/gremlin/small asian child jammed in some crevice?

i vote for the small Asian child jammed up in there....they are sneaky little buggers lol JK, well, if its the shifter that your having a hard time with i doubt its the fluid, i would start by checking the cable out, could just need a little white lithium grease, i haven't really heard of the shifters in autos going, my vote is the cable, check it out, maybe needs to be greased up, or replaced,
