i was looking at options after i removed the sound deaden material from the interior, a guy at o Reilly mentioned using truckbed liner like rhino liner to brush on the metal, he said it worked good on his sons car. has anyone heard or seen this done with good/bad results?

Well, it wouldn't rust...and you would save money on cleaning the carpet.

I guess it would be the same as an F150 with a vinyl floor.

Might be kinda heavy too...but an interesting idea.

I have looked into this before, it will keep it from rusting, but it really has no value as a sound deadener. You could bedline and then use deadening material I suppose. There is no cheap way around using sound material, at least I havent found it. I used to have a 66 Bronco and a lot of guys went this route for there floorboards. Just make sure you prep good and remember, when that stuff is there, its there. Also, from what I hear, you really pay for what you get when you get one of those do it yourself kits. Something to keep in mind.

if i was going to do it i would personally put the carpet in over it, i just didn't know how well it would function. i just thought about it yesterday when i saw i back of my uncles work/concrete truck and when its scrubbed it still looks new. i do wonder about the sound deadening capabilities.

Its not going to be as effective as true sound deadening mats.

Just remember that the material is also used to insulate.

I would love to do that lining on every square inch of a car. Would never have to worry about it dents, dings, rust, etc. If I had an old 4x4 I would do it.

A guy in my town bought the setup to do bedliners and sprayed an old S10, completely, with it and used it as an advertisement. It was kind of a neat idea...I just wondered how much weight it added to the truck.

But on topic, I don't believe it will do much for sound deadening...something like the lizard skin or others with that purpose would work much better.
