Has anyone used this to convert to disk brakes?

i was looking at this on ebay and was wondering if anyone had used this setup to convert to disk brakes?

It say that the parts list needed will only cost 200 at the local parts store.
I could spend more than that on a caliper and rotor on the stock disc setup Im thinking about using!!!!

From the auction:
"The budget kit consists of bolt on caliper brackets, and "grade 8" mounting hardware for both sides. You will have to furnish the rotors, calipers, pads, bearings, seals and hoses. "

Looks like he is just selling caliper brackets, bolts and a list of parts you'd need.

Man, the best thing (IMO) is to find some Mustang II spindles. I got my spindles (not on my car yet) with caliper cores and all for $20 total. Now all I have to do is buy calipers, rotors, pads and brackets.
I also work at O'reilly, and I find it hard to believe you can convert to disc for $200. The cores are what add up. And you don't want to go with the one year rotors and pads. That adds up too. Seems like a quality part, just expensive. But pretty!

Also: On the auction he says "It is recommended that you install a dual master cylinder and a proportioning valve, not included in the kit. "

I don't know about other parts dealers, but we don't carry propotioning valves. They are hard to find to my knowledge

if you check his other auctions, he has a full bolt on kit. Cores on granada calipers are like less than 10 bucks. i do not think the cores will really set you back to much. I already have a dual master cylinder and i plan on getting a adj. valve

i've never heard of using MII spindles on a pre 74 car (that doesn't have the MII suspension).

Dont carry propotioning valves?

a couple local parts stores have fully adjustables ones in stock 'round here.

www.summitracing.com has one made by wilwood, part number: WIL-260-8419 and also theri house brand valve part number: SUM-G3905

The one I have is made by SSBC.

im looking into adding discs to my fastback and it seems that you can buy the caliper mounts for $51 each from www.npdlink.com that bolt right up to your original spindle

when it comes to the spindles and rotors, im still looking for original or reproduction parts and not a granada or 1970s setup. ive found rotor/hub assemblies from kragen and calipers, hoses, bearings and seals from autozone at a fair price. i looking into using a 75 granada dual resevior master cylinder

im searching the swap meets for the dust shield and caliper brackets

if anybody has any other suggestions, please post a reply

Man, those brackets are welded. That sorta scares me. Most all the brackets I've seen are machined or bolt together.

i've never heard of using MII spindles on a pre 74 car (that doesn't have the MII suspension).

I could be wrong, but I was pretty positive that they were completely bolt on. Or so I as told at least. I thought spindles were spindles....

the mustang ll spindles do bolt in place of the stock early spindles, BUT they are a front steer spindle which changes the steering geometry, and generally not for the good. the biggest change is the ackerman steering angles, and instead of them being positive like they should be, they become negative resulting in poor tire wear, and unpredictable handling. if you are building a drag race only car you can use them, otherwise dont unless you change over to the mustang ll front suspension and steering as well.

for you yes because 65/66 drum and disc spindles were the same, it isnt easy like this for 67+ guys =/ spindles were different
