2.3s don't count josh

Since I don't have either my opinion is probably the best and unbiased so:
I'd say which ever is better condition, if same, then notch. It is lighter by 100-200 pounds.

If its a 4-8 conversion I'd be wary. The previous owner could have cut corners and such, making it a headache for you...

NOTCH! I have a hatch, so you know it's not a biased opinion. They're lighter, and look better. I don't like the better resale theory, If you're selling a notch you're out of your mind.

It depends on what you want...

All biased opinions aside (talking looks here) it sounds like the notch is the better deal.

For what I did to my car a notch wouldnt have looked good at all. I personally love notches and would probably have wanted one more, until I changed the car around, and now feel a notch looking like my car would be blah.

get what YOU want, but deal wise the notch does sound better.

I like the looks of a GT hatch, but notches are all-around the best Fox of 'em all, IMHO - better/lighter chassis, not as much road noise inside (since the rear wheelwells are in the trunk area, not in the same interior space as in a hatch), more subtle appearance, never have to worry about those stupid hatch lift struts wearing out, etc.

I used to hate Notches, but now they're OK. I've had 2 LX hatches and one GT and zero notches. I can't say I'll never have a notch, but I still only think they're ok. LX 5.0 hatches are my favorites.

With the exception of mileage, those cars are about the same. Get which style you like better and also consider interior condition and check the torque boxes, rust condition, paint, etc.

HATCH HATCH HATCH!!!!

Hatches look better with seat deletes, get sexy spoilers, and dont make the car look like a fancy escort.

from a performance standpoint, Notch, hands down.

from a styling standpoint, Notch, hands down.

and the resale is just silly on notches.

Silly resale value, indeed. I couldn't even get any of the cheap bastards down here to cough up $2500 for my notch when I put it up for sale last year. (Too bad, their loss. I'm keepin' it for good, now. HA! )

Other than that, I agree with ya'.

n-o-t-c-h . If you need any reasons as to why, click on my sig or ask for pictures of some insane notches, I have about 400-500 of notches. Or...buy the hatch, makes my notch look that much better.

it's where the upper/lower control arm connect to the body of the car. flexing and such stresses the mounting points, there are kits to beef that area up.

I have had 2 hatches and 1 notch.

Everybody STARES at the notch, and DROOLS, and wants to talk about it with me. Nobody even looked twice at my hatch GT's, and all 3 were the same condition, I repainted them all, new lights, wheels, tires etc....

GET THE NOTCH!!!!!!:flag:
