All cars are money pits, but that doesnt mean they should look like sh-t. Your car probably has that gap & orange peel problem because you trusted Maaco to do the work. I pay too much money for my car for it to wear a $800 Maaco paint job. Dont tell me a Maaco paint job is gonna look as good as a $5,000 paint job from a"REAL" body shop. U get what u pay 4. I used to deliver auto parts, & I delivered to Maaco once. There paint jobs look like SH-T!!! It looked like they painted right over bugs, scratches, dirt & whatever else was on the car. It defined the term orange peel. & not to mention it starts chipping, peeling, & fading after a year or so. So maybe a disposable, V6 stang isnt worth a high dollar paint job, but too me, any Mustang with a V8 is worthy of a high quality paint job.

The body work that was done on my Mustang was done by a "private" bodyshop. I didn't take it to Maaco. But after getting my car back and seeing the $hit work that this private bodyshop did, I would have been better off going to Maaco. The whole trick behind having Maaco do the paint job is to actually tell them that they have to take the time to sand down the car properly and to take off any trim, bumpers, ect. "BEFORE" they paint the car. If you tell Maaco that you want things done this way, they will do the job correctly. Also, you must specify to Maaco that you want the "higher quality" paint job.
I've had quite a few cars that my parents have owned painted by Maaco and they did "EXCELLENT" work. You've only got to "TELL" and to "DEMAND" to Maaco that you want them to do high quality work and a high quality paint job and they "WILL" do it.
And if you have any problems with them you can always call their corporate office in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and they will correct the problem. This is what the original "private" bodyshop that I took my Mustang to cannot do. They didn't correct the problem and they claim that they don't know what's causing the gao problem. If I originally took my Mustang to a Maaco, I would have had the gap problem already resolved and Maaco would have also taken off and repainted my front bumper to eliminate the orange peel problem. A "private" bodyshop will not do this because they don't have a corporate office where you as a consumer can call and complain about $hit quality workmanship. And to people in here who think that Maaco is bad, I have to say that you are wrong because Maaco has customer service at the "corporate level" beats the customer service of any private bodyshop. If you have a complaint, you just call Maaco corporate and they will try to resolve the problem. You cannot do this with a private bodyshop. Period.
So please don't put down a multi-million dollar company like Maaco that's been around for over 30 years. They've been around this long because they take good care of their consumers unlike the private bodyshops that are all theives.

Yeah I had the same kind of thing happen last September. I just waxed my car and then went to the store to pick up some stuff, when I came back out there was a nice big key mark all the way across the driver’s door. Just got it repainted a few weeks back and it was $580 to get the door done. It’s like I can't enjoy where I go because I always think something is going to happen to my car.

Maaco would have done the same paint job and a high quality one for that matter for probably $300 to $350. Your bodyshop overcharged you by almost $300 to get your door repainted.

thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard. i payed 3k for my paintjob, and the only dings and dents are the ones i put there. my car is a daily driver, i take it everywhere and nobody touches it. hell, i dont even have a alarm for it, im just waiting for someone to gaffle my mach460 pos thats worth 400$+ at ford so i can get a better deck. hell, or they can steal the entire car, then ill just go buy another cobra.

btw, as far as paint jobs go, you get what you pay for. as far as maaco goes, youre better off doing it yourself with a rattlecan, it will come out better. even their upper level jobs are crap and rushed. like i said, i payed 3k for my paintjob from a independent shop and its still not that great, but like i talk to most people who have insane aftermarket paint jobs, they throw 8k easily into their paint job. then again, the crappiest paint job i could do/buy would still be 100x better than the stock paint job that was on the car when i bought it, that wasnt taken care of from the previous owner, so anything was better than that. its sad when black is so faded and scratched/swirled its gray.




then its just a car to you. for the rest of us, its a extension of ourselves, a hobby and for some, cars are our life. it loses value, yes, we know, however in our eyes, it gains value everytime we drive it. Not all cars are money pits, modding a car does not mean its a money pit, it means its a hobby, a money pit is a car that breaks down constantly for no reason whatsoever other than it hates life.

I disagree with you about Maaco being a bad choice. My family has used Maaco many times within the last 20 years and they do excellent work. You just have to specify to them that you want the highest quality paint job and they will do it for you.

Also, modding a car as a hobby thing is okay, but you are still putting thousands of dollars into a car that will only lose value at the end. I see many stupid young people up here in my area spend thousands of dollars modding their Mustangs and then when they try to sell their cars, they get $hit for them. Modding is good ONLY if you will keep your Mustang forever and never sell it. But if you spend tons of money on it and then sell it down the road, you will never recoup the money that you put into it. That's why I never mod my Mustangs. Right now, I say that I will want to keep them forever, but someday, I might find something better out there or an opportunity to get a nicer or better car and I may want to sell my Mustangs. If I had spend a few thousand dollars to mod them, I would never recoup the money when the time comes to sell them. Like I said, modding a Mustang is only good if you plan on keeping the car for 15 to 25 years. Otherwise, you are just wasting your money. You are better off investing in the stock market or in buying a house with the thousands of dollars that you would waste modding your Mustang.

Do u work for maaco or something??? Yeah maaco will take the time to remove all your trim, emblems, & sand & prep etc. But it will cost you way more than $1000. Maaco hasnt been around this long because of the high quality work they do. Its because of how cheap their prices are.

No, I don't work for Maaco, but after what I've been thru with the $hit work that the private bodyshop did to my car, I don't even want to go to another private bodyshop ever again. They are all theives and they overcharge for everything. Maaco has more reasonable prices and if you tell them that you want the higher quality paint job, they will do it for you and they will charge MUCH LESS than the other thieves out there.
I myself and my whole family have used Maaco many times over within the last 20 years and we've always demanded the higher quality paint job from them and we've never had any quality issues with Maaco. We've all been very satisfied with their work. Maaco offers high quality body and paint work if you, as a customer, demand it from them.

The reason why I didn't bring my Mustang to Maaco this time around was because I was listening to all the fools in here tell me that Maaco is no good. I ended up listening to everyone and thought that a private bodyshop would do better quality work than Maaco. I was very wrong. I guarantee you that my Mustang would have been repaired properly if I had brought it to Maaco and had them do the body work and paint job on my front bumper. Now, I regret that I didn't use Maaco because I listened to all the people in here who told me that Maaco was no good.
When I am able to save a few hundred dollars, I will take my Mustang to Maaco and have them take off and re-paint my front bumper and also adjust the headlight header panel to fix the headlight gap problem that currenlty exists on my car. All the private bodyshops can go screw themselves. I am NEVER going to use a private bodyshop ever again after what they did to my car. There are a lot of private bodyshops around here and they all try to make you believe that they do good quality work and when you get your car back you can see that they all have taken shortcuts on the body work and /or on the paint work and they overcharge for everything. It shouldn't cost $300 to $500 dollars more for simple paint work like painting a front bumper or quarter panel and fender. Especially when they don't have to take off mouldings and do a lot of prep work on the car. Let's face it. Most of the private bodyshops are all theives and I think that it's really a big gamble as to whether a private bodyshop will do the repair work and the paint work properly. With Maaco, I will not have this problem. I will demand and specify to them what I exactly want them to do and they will do it. The other private bodyshops will not work this way.

Sorry for your trouble. First, its just a car so don't kill anyone. Don't fix it right away. Take your time. If you fix it right away put a camera. Until you catch the guy he might do it again. So might as well be ready. My car is a money pit. I will gladly fork over all the cash I have. I love my car. Oh and Macco sucks.
