So,
I just got off work, and im headed to my car on the phone with my girl, when i see a wire with some plugs attached to it right near my rear wheel. I think to myself that there is no way that someone would rip me off...then i hit the unlock button on my remote, open the door and find that my IVAD310 (DVD screen and player) is ripped from my dashboard...The stupid *******s pryed my shroud from the center console and straight ripped the screen that was folded in my dash out... It just doesn't make any sense that these pricks took my screen and did not even touch my radar detector or my sunglasses or my JL W6... These dumbasses didnt even take the brain to the screen, which was in my trunk, meaning that they could not even get the damn screen working without it plus a bunch of wires....they couldve bought a new unit for the price it would cost them to get mine working...note to all, just be careful with your prized possessions, because some hater will no doubt try to take them from you, no matter what they are.
/end of rant/
just be careful yall.

Man that sucks donkey balls!

I am always nervous when I take my Stang out. Figure someone will key it or steal its DVD/GPS system. I only take it out if I am going somewhere I can watch the car. I wont even go to the movies in it cause I would miss the movie by constantly checking on the car

Damn society!

Man. That sucks. I moved out of the city for this exact reason. I've caught people on 3 occasions breaking into my cars. I had an absolutely pristine 88 Monte Carlo SS get keyed my first night with the car, and even had one of my cars taken for a joyride. Dumb ass small time thieves.

Thanks guys, sorry about the rant, I was a little heated and drunk last night. I called the insurance company but im not holding my breath that they will give me enough money to get a new screen because i didnt pay extra to have the stereo insured. I better get something, and at least my door and lock will get repainted and fixed. This just happened at a horrible time because im so broke. It will be such a pain in the ass to fix this mess because im going to have to pretty much rewire the entire audio system (except the speaker leads) to the dash. All the rca's and stuff goes to the brain in the trunk, and im sure whatever new unit i get will not have a separate brain in the trunk.
Its just such a ****ty feeling knowing that someone like that was in my car not giving a crap what they do to it and im so careful all the time with my car. In retrospect, the damage really isnt that bad, i just lost my sense of security.
I do have an alarm, a damn good two way paging python system, but i was just too far to get the call from the car that the alarm was going off.

Finger prints mabey

Also I have sent many of my customers in the past that have had their screens stolen to look to ebay to find another. Alpine wont sell you just the screen/brain seperatly. Many times it worked out for them and they got a new screen for $100-$150

EDIR: I just searched and could only find base units for sale But keep checking

Oohhhh! I want some crack!
Back in college a few years ago I got up really early to go run some errands and noticed a bum passed out in the back seat of my car (1991 P.O.S. Buick Century). I pulled his ass out and noticed a huuuuuuge wet spot on the back seat. Bum must have been drunk and pissed himself/my seat. After that I have never left my car unlocked/unalarmed ever. How did they get into your car? I know out cars are easy to get into with a slimjim, due to no real door seal. Hopefully insurance will take care of you.

They used the screwdriver in my door lock and got it open somehow...i cant believe that it was that easy for them to get in like that. Im going to file a police report tomorrow.
Anyway, i guess im in the market for a new unit. Im looking at the Pioneer AVIC D3 and the AVIC F900BT
AVIC D3

AVIC F900BT

Im kind of leaning towards f900 because of the built in bluetooth, that is the only real difference that i can find in them. But i like the way the D3 looks aesthetically better. They are both on ebay for around the same price. Ill do the install myself to save some money on it. Anyone have any experience with these units?

I have the D3 and love it! Its a killer deck. Downside is it dosent have a SD slot and you have to use the DVD maps so you cant play a disc while navigating Also the Blue Tooth box is cheap. It links to my Razor just fine but the PPC6800 it wont pair with.
There are a few of the big boys (AVIC Z1) on eBay right now for $500. That thing has prolly the best in car screen i have ever seen. Super clear. And the eq/per amp section will blow you away. It will sound so much better then the Alpine deck you had you wont believ it!
I have installed MANY Alpine 310 and 510 and compared to all the Pioneer decks I have installed they are inferior. The only thing I like better on the Alpine is the force feedback when you use the touch screen.
